The Christian's life is and must be directed by God at all times in order to please him in everything he does, since it is evident that the person who decides to walk with God takes him as a father and obeys all his precepts.
Many people prefer to walk without God's intervention because they believe that if they do they will be subject to a rigorous life of norms and religion, others prefer to live life pleasing friends or society in order to please them to be well with them.
But there is a conglomerate of people who prefer to please God by obeying his word rather than men.

Acts 5: 29-31 confirms this affirmation in the mouth of the apostles of the Lord.
29 — It is necessary to obey God rather than men! Answered Peter and the other apostles. 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him from a tree. 31 By his power, [a] God exalted him as Prince and Savior, to give Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.

To obey God rather than men is to live for God and in blessing, for men disappoint and make mistakes but God never makes mistakes, it is possible that when you put your trust in man you will be defeated and disappointed and not fill the expectations that you expected, however when we obey and trust God our life is different because we go from triumph to triumph and from victorious to victorious.

There are times when it is necessary to make decisions whether to serve or obey God before men. For example, we can read in the Bible that many men who served God preferred to be confronted with earthly kings rather than obey them and be disobedient to God.

An example of this is the story of Daniel when he did not want to be contaminated with the food of the King, the story of Joseph when he preferred to renounce the wealth of the king and thrown into jail rather than yield to the passions of a married woman. We can also reflect on Josue's decision when he says:
Joshua 24:15 New International Version (NIV)
15 And if it seems wrong to serve Jehovah, choose who you serve today; if to the gods whom your parents served, when they were on the other side of the river, or to the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but I and my house will serve Jehovah.
