접시꽃은 꽃 모양이 접시모양 처럼 납작하다고 해서 접시꽃이라 불리는데 

접시꽃은 역사가 아주 오래된 꽃으로 우리나라 전역에서 자라는 꽃이랍니다

한 때 도종환 시인의 '접시꽃 당신'으로 잘 알려져 있는 꽃이기도 하구요

  

접시꽃을 처음 심게되면 그해에는 잎만 무성하고 꽃이 잘 피지 않으며 이듬해가 되어야 줄기를 키우면서 꽃을 피운답니다.

꽃의 색깔은 붉은색, 연한 홍색, 노란색, 흰색 등 여러 가지다 있으며 홑꽃과 겹꽃이 있습니다.
