I also eat whenever I am hungry but that is most likely because I have an odd schedule. I never know when i'm gonna sleep. One question, that is the deal with the strap around the dog's mouth? Is that to prevent it from biting people? Looks too friendly for that sort of action.

No, that's not it at all. She can open her mouth just fine with that on. It's called a "Gentle Leader" and it's basically for training her to walk better. I can gently turn her head to be straight forward that way if she's freaking out about another dog or a person on the walk. :)
