Nice find! I'm just barely old enough to remember when typewriters were used in most offices just before computers began taking over. My dad had a typewriter at home and I'm not quite sure what happened to it...I don't remember seeing that typewriter we had since I was about 10 years old (I was born in 1979). It's incredible how quickly technology becomes outdated and then eventually achieves "antique" status. Seems like the rate of growth and innovation is increasing at an exponential rate nowadays.

I get them fairly regularly. I think this one must have been standing in a very dusty garage because it was filthy! The computer age started in the 1980's, and by the mid 1990's, most typewriters weren't in use anymore. We got so many in our secondhand shop, and we couldn't give them away in the early 2000's, but now they are desirable again, like vinyl.
