I appreciate you sharing your perspective and do not discount the importance of rest.  Sleep, rest, and self care are priorities I believe in strongly.  

When your vehicle is a bike, you typically ride it daily: to work, the grocery store, a friend's house... It is an incredibly efficient form of transportation and here in Minneapolis many cyclists, myself included, do not own motorized vehicles. Cycling is a way of getting from A to B, like walking.  Is walking a chore that has to be done, or a necessary part of accomplishing your daily routine? It's all about perspective.  What is the person's reason for walking:  Exercise that is an obligation?  Enjoying nature?  Getting to the bus stop?  Going to the restroom?  There are countless reasons to walk or bike.  The 30DOB challenge inspired the formation of a HUGE group in Minneapolis that spread around the world: The Joyful Riders Club.  Far from sucking the joy out of riding, for many, it puts the joy _into_ riding through community building, support, and motivation.

Superb. 

My perspective of cycling is different i guess :)

We ride here for fitness with a rough training schedule.  Which we struggle to stick to :D and this requires a rest day once a week at the very least. 

Different forms of cycling i guess!

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate different perspectives.  Training and doing more athletic cycling definitely requires more breaks for the body to recover.  For me the 30 Days of Biking challenge is a fun practice in creating a daily habit and challenging myself in the wide variety of weather conditions we have during Spring in Minnesota :)
