One good thing about cryptocoins is that when one comes up and is successful others will be created to improved on it. This is what I think brought about EOS. It was as the result of the success of Ethereum that EOS came about. Fast transactions are always very important especially when you're thinking mass adoption while cost effective transaction is what the whole world wants to see. Innovation is often an upgrade on previous technologies and that is what most of the consensus mechanisms used on the blockchain are leveraging on. Proof of Stake came to make transaction easier compared to Proof of work, Delegated Proof of work (DPOS) came to make blockchain transaction as fast as 3 seconds. EOS had a lot of projects built on its blockchain in 2019 but recently, the numbers of project coming into the blockchain has reduced and after the attack on CPU and REX by people spamming the network, a lot of project had to move to sidechains like BOS, WAX, LYNX and so on.
