Viewing a response to: @juliank/increased-plagiarism-during-the-photography-contests
Theres far too many posts that are just copies from stock photography sites. I try to flag as many as i can to steemcleaners but it's a never-ending battle. If I see really good photos i instantly do a reverse image search on google images to check that the author is the original photographer. Most of the time they aren't. It just devalues genuine work as no-one will believe that a good photo is actually taken by the person posting it. I got really annoyed yesterday when a post with 3 images in it, all from a stock website, got a $30 upvote from a whale who, i guess, didnt realise that the images were stolen. https://steemit.com/photography/@trave/my-3-best-photography-of-my-last-travel

I have to be honest. The first tip off for me is a blank avatar. But looking at the account, every post seems to be stock photography. It really is annoying to see.

I mean, theres no law against it as the images are Creative Commons. However, that implies that the use of them needs a link back to the original author which never seems to happen. Im currently powering up so that i can have a bit more control over this by using my voting power to flag posts. Flagging to steemcleaners does help too and also you get a little bit of a kickback from them for finding stolen content.
