What happened – he turned to the chubby woman next to him. - When did this start?
Nothing. She just said that a little girl is in trouble – a woman replied – and then this. Can't talk...
What was a little girl doing? - a man asked holding a girl who was twitching on the chair like if she was possessed by the demon.
Sitting. Playing, I guess. - a woman replied – talking to a mirror, making faces... - a woman was unable to tell him anything smart.
I am going to see them. - a man said and took off.

I went back home sailing with my father, veiled up in the dark thoughts. 

On a way back my father noticed a dark swirl of the water. Something caught in his net. He lifted an elongated body of a sea mammal with the hook and cut the rest off of the nets lose. The net was completely destroyed. He finished an animal on the island.

The rest of the day went by peacefully. My arm recuperated completely. My cousins and their families were nowhere to see. We were alone again.

I saw a crimson light rolling down to the horizon and I rushed to the windmill platform.

There was no windmill. Or a fog siren. There was not even a platform on which they both stood upon.

I looked up to find my flying friends, but they were not there. A sky was silent. So silent.

My parents went to bed when the dark wrapped around the island like a hungry beast and a smell of the extinguished petroleum lamps was the only thing still vibrating in the air. My brother was sleeping tightly. 

Not so late I could hear the dog howling and that familiar feeling of terror entering our small island house.

I went to the window to see a reason behind the rabid barking. A fog was pouring in our front yard and a garden like a river, silently creeping across the soil. It was here, again.

So, what are my options, I stepped away from the window. I could disappear completely immersed in the madness, or I could take a look. 

Down there. Where he told me to. How bad can it be?

I exited the house that was surrounded by the thick suffocating fog. I went to our pier and loaded a big anchor into a small summer boat my father used for fishing near the coast, and paddled it away from the coast, just on the edge of a sinkhole on the further end of a drop.

A deep trench opened up to a deeper darker eye- under a full moonlight it looked like an image of the hell doors opening below my feet. 

The little boat was already half filled with water, a heavy anchor was keeping the uneven balance of my frail body. But anything lighter would be unable to drag me down to a bottom fast enough.

I put my feet on the anchor as I placed it on the edge of a boat, wrap a chain around my ankles, made a few deep breaths but a boat couldn't take a weight and it flipped. While I was sinking into the darkness I was thinking to myself, I have no idea what I am doing....




An anchor was sinking fast and soon it dragged me below a border of the light. Now I was in a complete dark. The pressure immobilized me, I felt my lungs are shutting down and crushing under the pressure. 

I could only see the dark trembling around me when an anchor hit the bottom of the sea. 

What have I found down there? 
A secret. 
An answer. 
The Void.

Tell me.. are you afraid to die? To choke on terror? Are you afraid to burn?

What connects fire and water, but the same energy and they exist simultaneously.
What connects a beast and a man, but the innocence that feeds both polarities which flourish upon that carnage.

An explosion of the fire inside of my mind. Somewhere, at the back of my head a howl of an unknown monster, weeping, crying for help, screaming not leave him all alone. I felt my body becoming a cold mist sunken into the soft soil of the seabed.

I reached with my hands around, but there was nobody around. Nobody. 

Until I grabbed something and I opened my eyes, looking at an old, rotten bag.

I pulled it and saw I was lying shored on a beach back on the island. I guess I swam here all by myself.

A break of dawn was decorating cold horizon. Where have I been the whole night? 

I sat down next to a bag and tried to open it but the rotten rugs just teared up and I saw a pile of something colorful and wet inside. 

It was moving.

I slowly poke it with a finger. It was .. a funny ribbon in cheerful colors. I took it by two fingers and start pulling. And a pulled a big sea worm which was slowly wringing.

I looked down and there was more of the same. What a wonderful animals! I should take a few and make pets. But... I thought maybe they need seawater to live.

I grabbed a bag trying to see if there is some more when a pile of rotten, shattered and broken bones fell out of it.

I watched in terror what kind of an animal can it be when I noticed a smashed human skull in the middle of a disgusting slimy mess.

I drooped the whole thing and stepped immediately back.

There was another similar rotten bag next to that one. 
And another one. 
And another one... 
And another one... 
And another one...
Another...

How would I knew what is it, if I decided not to know....?

I came in from of the house and ran immediately inside of it because everything outside looked so wrong to me.

The garden wall was gone. There were no flowers around the house. The front doors were removed and a house stood wide open, deserted and cold.

I entered the empty hallway.

Mom... - I sighed into an empty house. 
Mom, are you there? - I called silently, but the only thing to reply to me was a cold echo of silence.
