Sometimes, hustling your own way and ignoring your elders' calls for a more "traditional" life is the best way to get things done. Your parent wants you to stay at home AND get into "the real world"? Pure hypocrisy. These days, for someone your age, going into "the real world" means a higher-than-desirable chance of getting stuck in a dead-end job working around _someone else's_ schedule and life -- if you can even find a viable job in the first place. Furthermore, building something up from little or even no starting capital (as you seem to be trying to do) may bring a sense of meaning and accomplishment that no "real job" ever could. So keep on doing what you think will be best for you both financially and healthwise. The worst-case scenario may be that you don't bring in the money you were hoping for, but at least you're not going to be chest-deep in debt either -- a problem that too many traditional workers are facing.

This is all very true. It's defiantly frustrating to see them try to push me into the real world without leaving home. If they want to provide real help, they should research how well some jobs pay, that might open their eyes. It is a lot of fun starting from zero and building up, and gives me way more sense of doing something than I have ever had.
