Now I don't feel as good for reaching level 60 on reputation... Just kidding, I agree with you, I have a little more than 1,000 followers and most of them are inactive or following more than 10,000 people... I'm focusing on increasing my SP, I've managed to reach Minnow III recently and I'm starting to see a little snowball effect. I have almost 580 SP.
