#### This was the plan. A simple one to say the least, but one that I felt could certainly work with time and effort. What I did not foresee however, was that my very first video would be censored, hindering my opportunity to amass any type of following on YouTube.

# You Decide

### Are YouTube justified in censoring this [this video](https://steemit.com/satire/@son-of-satire/promoting-steemit-using-youtube-my-first-son-of-satire-video)?

#### In truth, I am fully aware that most platforms beyond the realm of Steemit are notorious for their censorship. I had considered that some of my content may be censored in one way or another, which is why I took steps to negate the possibility.

#### At the start of the video, I inserted a disclaimer stating that the video is for entertainment purposes only. I assumed that this would assist me in avoiding censorship, but evidently, I was very wrong.

# Fuck You, YouTube.

#### I don't think there are hundreds of thousands of people working for YouTube and reviewing every video to decide which videos, such as mine, will be put onto "restricted mode." Therefore, I can only guess that it was the title of my video or a tag that I used that automatically censored the video. This is disgraceful. 

#### There was no profanity, no nudity, and in this case, there was not even much of a political message involved. None of my tags were inappropriate, but it is my guess that the use of the word "conspiracy" is most likely what resulted in my video being available only to users who have opted in to the "restricted mode."

# What does this mean?

#### Well, for starters, it means that Steemit just got a whole of a lot more attractive. Everyone on *the tube* is fed up with this shit, and will be looking for a home where they can avoid having their opinions censored before long. Steemit cannot support this sort of thing clearly. But, who is to say that there won't be some sort of video sharing platform to compete with YouTube developed on the steem blockchain in the years to come? I'm positive that plenty of YouTubers would be thoroughly enticed by the news of a video sharing social media platform that encourages people to use their voice, rather than increasingly ramping up efforts to silence their users.

#### It also means that establishing a following on YouTube is going to be a lot more difficult than I had thought it would be. I am not sure if all my future videos will be getting censored now, as perhaps I'm on some sort of automated blacklist? Or perhaps it was merely the tags used in this one, and as long as I am careful on the next one, I may have the opportunity to share my work with a lot more YouTubers. I do know that regardless of the increased level of difficulty, I am not giving up. 

#### I didn't spend ages learning animation, and then a week creating a cartoon just to give up on YouTube at first sight of an obstacle. I am committed to this now, and I will be seeing it through regardless of whatever YouTube might have to say about it. I would like to ask for some assistance however. Shares of my YouTube videos just got a hell of a lot more important, and I hope that if any of you on Steemit enjoy one of my videos in future, you share it within your social circles.

# Fuck YouTube

#### I just felt like saying that one more time. 

### I once referred to Steemit as ***"the blueprint for a better tomorrow."*** This was why I jumped at the opportunity to join the community, and it's at times like this that I realise just how right I was. Fuck YouTube, and fuck censorship.
