Petrificados quedaron los tres. No sabían qué hacer ante el segundo hallazgo del día, no estaban muy claros en que les perturbaba mas, si la foto del bebe que habían visto arriba, o esta magnífica criatura que deseaba devorarlos, o si bien ambos eventos estaban oscuramente entrelazados en la historia de Isaac. Lin corrió hacia la escalera, subió de nuevo a la sala principal, no soportó mucho tiempo viendo a la gran araña de patas verdes con los colmillos ensangrentados y encima del cadáver del venado, del que solo restaba una fracción. Jonas y Frederick examinaron un poco más la habitación.

Todo el laberinto había sido construido de vidrio, uno bastante duro y resistente. Toda la estructura daba la impresión de que fue construida con la finalidad de observar a la araña  en cada etapa del día, sin que quedara escondida en ningún lugar. Se podía ver cuando caminaba, comía, e incluso cuando descansaba. Era un gran laberinto construido a escala con el laberinto del castillo, mantenían ambos su forma peculiar, aunque no tenían muy claro si esto era solo una coincidencia. La araña caminaba enfurecida por cada uno de los corredores del laberinto que la albergaba, al parecer estaba furiosa de estar allí encerrada, anhelando fuertemente su libertad.

Frederick notó cómo  en el inicio del laberinto había un mecanismo para introducir las presas, era lo suficientemente grande como para que un venado adulto pudiera entrar, y estaba diseñado de tal manera que se podía introducir al animal por una compuerta sellada, cerrarla y finalmente abrir la segunda compuerta que comunicaba con la araña, por lo tanto no había posibilidad de que la araña escapase mientras la estaban alimentando. Los detalles de todos estos mecanismos estaban muy bien estructurados, una trampa como esta no pudo haberse construido en poco tiempo. Todo el laberinto comprendía no solo una estructura visualmente interesante, sino también mucho tiempo de esfuerzo y dedicación para poder construirlo. Y esto solo se haría de tal manera si se tiene un plan claro.

Todo parecía indicar que la existencia de esa araña en ese lugar no era ninguna coincidencia, estaba fríamente planeado, y se preparo todo lo necesario para poder albergarla en ese lugar. Lo inquietante de todo ese asunto, es que no se encontraron indicios concluyentes acerca de la finalidad de tener a esa criatura encerrada en ese lugar. Jonas por su parte reviso el contenido de todos los viejos estantes que se encontraban alrededor. Había artefactos realmente viejos, con varias capas de polvo y oxido, también unos cuantos libros, de historia, arte, pero entre todos ellos había uno que resaltaba, no por su tamaño ni por su diseño, resaltaba porque no tenia las miasmas capas de polvo que tenían los demás, estaba mucho más limpio, como si hubiese sido limpiado recientemente. Al leer el titulo “Fisiología y morfología de las distintas especies de arácnidos”, Jonas le hizo señas a Frederick para subir a donde estaba Lin.

– “Alguien ha estado viniendo regularmente a este lugar, la misma casa que creíamos abandonada y que pertenece a la organización”, Dijo Jonas

– “Es obvio que alguien tiene que estar alimentando a esta espantosa criatura, no entiendo como ninguno de nosotros ni ningún miembro de la Asamblea General pudimos haber pasado por alto un hecho tan grave como este”, dijo Lin en voz alta, tratando e controlar un poco su desesperación inocultable.

– “Con lo de la foto del bebe estábamos un poco seguros de que no había ningún problema con no decir nada respecto al tema. Pero ahora con una araña de un tamaño tal que le permite vernos como simples insectos, no estoy seguro si debemos callarnos o llamar a la asamblea en este instante”, dijo Frederick.

– “No me esperaba nada de esto para hoy, no sé ni que decir. Tenemos que ponernos de acuerdo en lo que vamos a hacer, y tiene que ser una decisión que los tres apoyemos, sino tendremos que dejar todo en manos de la Asamblea General. Tampoco  podemos olvidarnos que estamos en medio del protocolo para la lealtad de los miembros de bajo rango, tenemos que ir un paso a la vez.”, dijo Jonas.

Ninguno tuvo alguna idea buena, se quedaron callados. No había ninguna sugerencia o decisión que pudieran tomar en ese momento, estaban confundidos, sorprendidos, y no estaban pensando con la frialdad que siempre los caracterizaron ante los demás miembros de la comunidad, se estaban viendo unos a otros como humanos, como cualquier otro miembro sin importar el rango que habían logrado obtener. De repente un extraño sonido proveniente del exterior interrumpió su silencio de reflexión. Los tres se pusieron alertas antes cualquier ataque. Sus nervios se pusieron de punta cuando escucharon que tocaron la puerta fuertemente. Rápidamente armaron un plan mediante señas, en el cual Frederick y Lin se escondían, mientras Jonas abriría la puerta, y así poder contar con el factor sorpresa ante cualquier ataque.

Jonas abrió lentamente la puerta y se mantuvo en posición de defensa detrás de la misma. Cuando la puerta logro abrirse completamente logro ver 7 personas, que lo estaban viendo fijamente. En ese momento recordaron que tenían una cita con los nuevos miembros que cumplirían la función de infiltrarse en la organización y vigilar a los otros miembros de rango bajo. De todo lo que habían sido testigos ese día, los había distraído del motivo oficial por el que habían ido a la antigua casa.

All three were petrified. They didn't know what to do about the second find of the day, they weren't sure what disturbed them more, whether the photo of the baby they had seen above, or this magnificent creature that wanted to devour them, or whether the two events were darkly intertwined in Isaac's story. Lin ran to the stairs, climbed back up to the main room, couldn't stand much time watching the large green-footed spider with its bloody fangs and over the deer's corpse, of which only a fraction remained. Jonas and Frederick examined the room a little further.

The whole labyrinth had been made of glass, one quite hard and resistant. The whole structure gave the impression that it was built in order to observe the spider at every stage of the day, without it being hidden anywhere. You could see it walking, eating, and even resting. It was a large labyrinth built to scale with the labyrinth of the castle, both kept their peculiar shape, although they were not sure if this was just a coincidence. The spider walked enraged through each of the corridors of the labyrinth that housed it, apparently furious to be locked up there, yearning strongly for its freedom.

Frederick noticed that at the beginning of the labyrinth there was a mechanism to introduce the prey, it was large enough for an adult deer to enter, and it was designed in such a way that the animal could be introduced through a sealed gate, closed and finally opened the second gate that communicated with the spider, so there was no possibility of the spider escaping while it was being fed. The details of all these mechanisms were very well structured, a trap like this could not have been built in a short time. The whole labyrinth comprised not only a visually interesting structure, but also a lot of time of effort and dedication to build it. And this would only be done in such a way if you have a clear plan.

Everything seemed to indicate that the existence of that spider in that place was no coincidence, it was coldly planned, and everything was prepared to accommodate it in that place. The disturbing thing about the whole thing is that no conclusive evidence was found about the purpose of having that creature locked up in that place. Jonas reviewed the contents of all the old shelves around. There were really old artifacts, with several layers of dust and rust, also a few books, of history, art, but among all of them there was one that stood out, not because of its size or design, stood out because it did not have the miasmas layers of dust that the others had, it was much cleaner, as if it had been cleaned recently. Reading the title "Physiology and morphology of the different species of arachnids", Jonas beckoned Frederick up to where Lin was.

– "Someone has been coming regularly to this place, the same house we thought was abandoned and belongs to the organization", said Jonas.

– "It is obvious that someone has to be feeding this dreadful creature, I don't understand how any of us or any member of the General Assembly could have overlooked such a serious fact as this", Lin said aloud, trying to control a little his inoculable despair.

– "With the photo of the baby we were a little sure that there was no problem with not saying anything about it. But now with a spider of such a size that allows it to see us as mere insects, I'm not sure if we should shut up or call the assembly right now," said Frederick.

– "I didn't expect any of this for today, I don't even know what to say. We have to agree on what we are going to do, and it has to be a decision that all three of us support, otherwise we will have to leave everything in the hands of the General Assembly. Nor can we forget that we are in the middle of protocol for the loyalty of low-ranking members, we have to go one step at a time", said Jonas.

No one had any good ideas, they were silent. There was no suggestion or decision they could make at the time, they were confused, surprised, and they were not thinking with the coldness that always characterized them before the other members of the community, they were seeing each other as human, like any other member regardless of the rank they had attained. Suddenly a strange sound from the outside interrupted their reflective silence. All three were alert for any attack. Their nerves spiked when they heard a loud knock on the door. They quickly put together a signaling plan, in which Frederick and Lin hid, while Jonas opened the door, so that they could count on the surprise factor for any attack.

Jonas slowly opened the door and stood in a defensive position behind it. When the door managed to open completely I could see 7 people, who were staring at him. At that moment they remembered that they had an appointment with the new members who would fulfill the function of infiltrating the organization and watching the other members of low rank. Of all that they had witnessed that day, he had distracted them from the official reason they had gone to the old house.
