First of all great photos! I love admiring macro photography but I don't have a lense for that at this time.

  I also enjoyed the description of the flower, in particular this:

*The flowers are really quite "showy" and spectacular, with a big tuft of stamens in the center.*

I've never seen nor heard of this particular flower but I'm well aware of St. John's Wort and it's use.  

Thankfully I've never suffered from *chronic* depression but my own personal extensive research on that topic has lead to the supplement niacin. Dr. Saul has done many lectures on the topic and he was once interviewed by Dr. Mercola (who I much admire) about its use. It is more than fascinating.
