I agree on the "crash course" when joining. I just posted a similar comment. People need to know that Steemit is the "Wild West" and they can not have any expectations of what the payout will be. It is when our expectations come crashing down that we feel so bad. ie, we expected a $40 payout and look a couple hours later to see that someone flagged it down to $20. It feels like theft, plain and simple. It feels like a violation. And it will always feel like a violation to people who expect Steemit to be fair. The way it is, Steemit is NOT fair. Unless we change it to make it fair, than we have to change people's expectations.

Right. It feels like a violation. The underlying architecture is boss. If subjectivity (all human choice) is involved with voting/flagging, then there will always be contradictory movements of people. No point fighting, or trying to change people. We can either allow the contradictions to occur, ie freedom of choice/opinion, or change the underlying architecture of Steemit. Arguments of what is fair will last forever.
