Positivity is a natural force of power that’s basically behind hopes. Hopes of good and bad, as you’ve said posivity even in the cruelty of negativity. This are two opposite reactions and when manipulated to be parallel never crosses path. All I’m saying in excess is positivity can work alongside negativity in the same direction and not countering the other one. 

You see another force is greed which only works with negativity cause believe me , greed pushes one to attain at all point. Even through negative means 

You see criticism to me isn’t bad afterall, it is a frank and blunt way of correcting or making things right, of course arguments does occur in the events of criticizing but it only does make you better by knowing more of what you never had a knowledge of. You see this is an example of positivity in a mistakened or assumed negativity
