So all these accounts are tied to the @freedom account?! Therefore when the @freedom account stopped their power down it stopped the power down of all of those other accounts? Which is what made the 1 million steem "disappear"?

Looks like all these accounts and @freedom act at the same time, probably controlled together, therefore @freedom initiated a power down at the same time as the others a week ago. However, @freedom was the recipient of all the powered down steem, so the @freedom account stopped the power down just prior to it's occurrence today. Basically its probably one person, multiple accounts, consolidating. (Sounds like those who know more think it's Dan.) Roughly in my head, I'd say it's what? 5% of all Steem in these accounts combined? So perhaps Dan has more stake than we thought, I just hope it may be earmarked for more development or a special project or two. I guess it doesn't really change anything either way, just makes the wealth distribution even more concentrated. It'll still broaden over time.

Thanks for the explanation. How come the other accounts still show that they are scheduled to power down 7 days from now, but the @freedom account does not? I would think that if it controlled the others, when it stopped or started it's power down all the others would follow?

I really don't know what kind of script or automation would make it easy for the owner to synchronize things in the past, such as power downs or flagging, I'm sure other more savvy folks understand, however I can only assume the owner simply stopped the power down on @freedom and not the others since @freedom seems to be the chosen account to pool to. Other comments seem to indicate the lead account may even be the @pumpkin account, meaning a manual action on @freedom wouldn't cancel out the existing power down schedules on everyone else. They pretty much all seem to be inactive (non blogging) investor type accounts so they could be anyones.
