I earn more than most users through posting, but even for me a 50-50 split wouldn't reduce my earnings by that much. 

The big plus is that this should encourage more curation and looking around for good content and diverse voting among most users. 

It would need some careful marketing about authors being dependent on their curators, because I do accept the comments that say '50-50' doesn't feel right, if flippantly talked about it comes across as 'chucking half your rewards away', but it's not that simple of course! 

I'm not sure 50-50 would break up the early adopter shit-posting circle jerks though? 

I'm in the @kevinwong club for how to change steem - this is one pillar, a few other tweaks need to be changed! 

I'm also very much in agreement with those people saying we need to try something different - so this is defo worth trying. 

I'm also thinking 60-40 might be better!
