50/50 split is definitely better than the existing 25/75. 25% is not sufficient incentive when compared to vote selling or delegating to a bot. I am not even sure if 50/50 is sufficient. A few other changes are also required to make it work (e.g. separate downvote pool, option to receive curation rewards as 50% SBD, and delegation contracts). 

It might even be necessary to increase the curation rewards to as high as 75% for sufficient curation to occur. Higher curation rewards also facilitates delegation to curators rather than bots.

I have written several posts regarding the current problems with the reward system. Increasing curation rewards still looks like the best option and it appears to be quite strongly supported.
