I read in your 2nd podcast that you used your husband's mic here, and it clearly shows. The audio is better than before. As to your topic, if I may share, here in our country we have a law that requires company with a minimum starting salary. I find the law odd, for it gives equality to all job seekers whether you are a graduate of 4 or 2 years course, or even an undergraduate, or even just a high-school graduate. Most of the companies follow this rule. But in my observation here, if you are a graduate from a private school or even with honors, they offer a much higher wages. And based on my experience even if you know your worth, like when they ask you in the interview as to how much your expected salary, and if you know your worth and give a higher than the minimum, they will tell you that they will study and consider your suggestion but in reality they wont give you feedback and worst they wont hire you.

I hear the difference also very clearly.

We have a minimumwage too. It was associated as the pay for people with no degree and no experience. It is now used for a lot more people and I don't agree with them doing so.

It sounds a lot more problematic in you country because they make a decision based on sociological background (if I understood right). That's a big no no in my opinion because than they create a situation that it doesn't matter how hard you work or good you are you, are kept on the same level.....

Yes that's what I think too its complicated here, there are companies that favors employees based on what school they came from and comes with it different starting salary grade.

@barbarrseevelien That is the hard thing, when wages are not moving up across the board. I have a family member that makes lower pay. When minimum wage increased some awhile back, the new employees were making the same as her. I don't think that is fair, nor is it good for employee morale. I don't think most careers should be making similar to the amount they made 30 years ago, yet the cost of goods and living has skyrocketed.

I agree! It was not that long ago that it was unheard of in my country people had to have multiple jobs to make enough money (like in the US some people have day and night jobs). Now I see people have two jobs and a sometimes a small business.

@puroypoi we have a minimum wage here. It is equal to $7.25 per hour. However, it is pretty low for the cost of living. I think having some kind of minimum wage helps because it keeps people from being worked for next to nothing. I could imagine what employers would offer if they could get away with it. I don't think minimum wage should be the same as those who have higher education. However, I do believe people should be able to obtain their basic needs if they work full time.
