**A Sherpa or Mount Everest climbing guide named Kami Rita broke his record in the most climbs on the top of Everest. Kami Rita successfully set foot on the highest point in the world 26 times.**

The Sherpa, a man from Nepal, reached the 8,849-meter summit on Saturday evening, May 7, 2022 evening by leading a group of Sherpa climbers who put ropes along the route. This rope will be used by hundreds of other climbers and guides to reach the top of the mountain by the end of this month.

Kami Rita, as reported by the AP news agency, along with 10 other Sherpa guides reached the summit without any problems and returned safely to the lower camps on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

The hiking route used by Kami Rita was pioneered by a New Zealander, Sir Edmund Hillary, and a Nepalese sherpa, Tenzing Norgay, in 1953. To this day, the trail continues to be the most popular way to climb Mount Everest.

Meanwhile, Kami Rita's group reached the summit at around 19.00 local time, which according to the standards of climbing Everest was too late. At night, there is a risk of worsening weather conditions and hikers getting lost while descending.

Hundreds of foreign climbers and an equal number of guides will try to climb Everest this May 2022. May is the best month to climb Everest because it has the best weather conditions. There are usually only a few times of good weather at the highest part of the mountain in May that allow climbers to reach the summit.

Kami Rita, a 52-year-old man, first climbed Everest in 1994 and have traveled almost every year since then. He is one of the many Sherpas whose expertise and skills are critical to the safety and success of the foreign climbers who go to Nepal every year to stand on top of the mountain.

Kami Rita's father was one of the first Sherpas. Kami Rita followed in his father's footsteps. In addition to the 26 summits of Everest, Kami Rita has climbed several other peaks that are among the highest in the world, including K-2, Cho-Oyu, Manaslu, and Lhotse.

"Kami Rita has broken his record and set a new world record in climbing," said Taranath Adhikari, director general of Nepal's tourism department in Kathmandu's capital, Taranath Adhikari.

In 2022, Nepal issued 316 permits to climb Mount Everest in the peak season that lasts until May. The Himalayan country relies heavily on climbers for foreign exchange.

However, Everest's too many permits have been criticized for causing overcrowding and several climbers killed in 2019. Everest has been climbed 10,657 times since it was first climbed in 1953 from the Nepalese and Tibetan sides. According to data from the Himalayas, 311 people have died since the ascent opened in 1953.
