I have been on here almost a year and I am still figuring things out. By responding to other's posts is a good way to start.  Upvote them, even though you may not have much power when you start.   When you are ready do an introduction posts.  In the tag column you will find a category "introduce yourself".  You can see what others have done.  I actually started commenting on other's posts and probably a month or so later did my introduction post.  I may have posted something before that too.
