Greetings. CBT tends to be used as you describe, yes - though this appears to be part of a general 'ethical' (or just lazy) protocol within psychology that heavily limits how far they will go into people's psyches. There is also the issue that EVERYONE is involved in heavily denying their real emotions and also heavily engrained with defense systems designed to stop their real feelings being triggered TO MOVE. Our entire culture is actually designed to hold this shitty blackhole in place. Manners are a good example of the way that we are programmed to become unconscious instead of just accepting how we and others really feel.

There is no way to change the patterns involved without unconditionally accepting all emotions and allowing them to vibrate in the body through sounds and movement. This is exactly what we are programmed NOT to do and if you really look at this and feel into it, you will notice that such emotion is among the most judged against of all phenomena. 

When this is felt and understood, we can start to release judgements, express real feelings and then truly evolve.
