You have to at mention helpbot and then ask your question with a question mark at the end. I'm doing it as comments on the post that brings up a specific question.

I'm not in chats, so I do not know. But here you use your comment to ask a question with a question mark at the end of it and at mention helpbot. You have to have the question mark and the at mention to make the bot see you. You will first get an automatic reply and then maybe the real answer. The tool is in development and we help by commenting with our questions.
