A plan is a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something; an intention or decision about what one is going to do. It is crucial that we plan before we embark on a project – especially when it is a big, complicated project. Planning helps to break down the project into smaller parts. The blueprint will help you progress each step of the way. When the plan is well thought out, the chances of success are better. The purpose of planning is to reduce the uncertainty of the future. It is not meant to eliminate it. As you put your plan into action, you may come across obstacles you haven’t anticipated. Or you may find flaws in the plan. This is when you have to alter your plans a bit. Therefore, let your plans be flexible. Let there be room for change. It is a bad plan that cannot be changed. No one plans to fail, but many fail to plan. If you do not plan, it is all right – just as long as you are not surprised when you fail. Make it a habit to have plans, and let your plans be flexible.
