**Hello..!!
My Dear Friends,
I am @ishanto from 🇧🇩Bangladesh**

I hope you are well by the grace of God. Bangladesh is a riverine country Bangladesh has many small and big rivers. As this river harms people, it also benefits people. In many areas, the river is the only way of livelihood for the people. On the other hand, the Padma river is called the river of destruction. Because the Padma river flows during the monsoon season and various areas are submerged in the river. Because when an area begins to erode, almost all of the area goes into the river basin. It causes a lot of damage. Again this river is the source of livelihood of the people because the fishermen live in the river regularly for months and sell the fish for their livelihood. Today I will discuss that the river is the main source of livelihood for some people.

In the picture you can see some fishermen in a boat pulling the net and bringing it to the boat. Here the nets are usually thrown over a certain area and then they are pulled from one side and collected. And between these nets fish are caught. Different types of fish are caught here, all small and big fish are available. And they go to sell these fish in the market in the morning. They usually go to the river to catch fish in the evening.

It is a different type of fishing gear. It has to be left on the river bank. When there is a current in a river, some fish move into it with the current. If they can be left a lot then a lot of fishes are caught and those fishes can meet the demand of food and they can sell it in the market thus they depend on livelihood.

In the picture you can see two men in a small boat pulling the net to see if the fish have caught. They use this fish as their food because their catch is limited and they cannot sell it. This is how they usually catch fish and prepare their food.

Jute is called the golden fiber of Bangladesh. This jute was cut from the land and soaked in river water and when this jute was soaked, the work of washing them was going on. They should be washed and dried to make them fit for sale. The people you see in the picture are day laborers. They earn a day and eat a day and they are washing in the water of the river. The river has become our livelihood through it.
***
***This is how people's livelihood relationship with the river has developed. This is how the river has been benefiting us. And if the river disappears, there will be a water crisis.***
