**Is bing watching a good idea?** 
I am not always sure. Of course, when I watch something I want to know how it continues even if it is boring (then I hope it will get better or it must be very boring), but sometimes I think I miss certain details or are they simply not there?

Those who watch Maniac and are awake will notice that what is going on in this film is a hot item today in the news too.
The pharmaceutical industry digging into people's brains and looking for guinea pigs, in this case, people get paid to test the pills A, B and C during a three-day test period. If it turns out well, the guinea pig gets paid, otherwise, of course, he or she does not. Of course, the participants sign a contract and the duty of silence is also included in this contract. 

**What are the pills A, B and C for?**
To cure people, make them happier. Pill A is to find the trauma (to show something shocking) and once pill C is taken and survived you are cured (cured of the old sorrow that the body has naturally built a barrier around).
How crazy, infected, hurt, damaged or cured can a person be? Those who wish to participate must take part in a test after filling in a form. Annie does not pass but manages to get a place (personal information about someone will get you there).

While Owen takes part in the experiment because he needs money, Annie does because she is addicted to pill A. Owen, a schizophrenic, believes she is the person he is looking for and she should lead him. Both are in the odd group and although they are not allowed to talk about their personal experiences, the entire group does. It might be interesting to see what kinds of people join. 

**The question is: who is the maniac?**
Is it the doctor, the computer, are the guards or the participants or is it the creator of the computer and pills his mother?
I do not find this mini-series comical, nor is it a drama or thriller. What genre is it? In any case SF, if only because of the time in which this film takes place.

As a viewer, you end up in the seventies/eighties. The hairstyle, the glasses, the way of dressing, the many cigarettes that are smoked and the computers are in sharp contrast with the technical possibilities of reading the brain, the way people sleep in the lab, the sleeping places of the participants and the 'modern' snacks.
Not once did I laugh at what I saw, because there was literally nothing funny about it. I would call it: cheap humour.
The doctors, the participants and family members are almost all pathetic characters who you rather feel sorry for than laugh at.

How the computer makes a diagnosis based on answering questions after taking a pill is beyond me. It seems pretty short to me. For Owen, the result will not be surprising but what about Annie?

_Owen's witness statement runs like a thread through the story. He has to exonerate his brother, a rather unsympathetic figure like the rest of his family._ 

I look and look and wonder what I'm actually looking at. What is this series about? Is the idea you have to search for it or just make up your own mind in the end? Altogether, It is somewhat chaotic and when Owen and Annie meet, after taking pill B in their 'minds' (thoughts, dreams or how you like to call it), this leaves the doctors puzzled (if you ask me it is just the result of a short circuit caused by a sad computer leaking). 

It's all not as profound as it could be and I don't know the film on which this series is supposedly loosely based. 
As I said, this is not a comedy, a bit of bland pants humour that you have to love. 

After seeing all ten episodes, the question remains: what is the title Maniac based on? I have no idea.
