Según lo que investigue son alrededor de 10 países los que presentan el fenómeno denominado sol de media noche, todos los situados en latitudes más al norte del Círculo Polar Ártico entre ellos: Noruega, Suecia, Finlandia, Islandia e incluso algunas zonas de Rusia. También se conoce como las noches blancas, (cuándo reina el sol).
