Thank you for your well written post. I think we need more individuality in our schools. For example my colleagues and I are planing to redesign our IT-basic course (7th grade) to be oriented on individual learning pathways. At my school the elementary sector is organized in learning groups where children of the first three grades learn together and can stay longer if necessary. I sometimes hear from friends that in preschool education offers from “free educational entrepreneurs” are dubious. Foreign languages for three-year-olds and similar nonsense. Nonetheless many hard working coworkers put a lot of effort into our (German) public educational system. Our system is far from ideal and we still have a long way to go. Although thinking to be better at it than the professionals is a high claim and most parents I meet could not make it. Actually though I am a teacher (for 7th till 13th grade) I am happy that there will be professionals supporting us from early on when I have own children.
