I hear that man i tried to make some positive change. I put the effort into a post and was knocked off the 'new' list in about 2 minutes. I was trying to prove that quality content can succeed and dolphins and whales spamming their junk meal posts proved me wrong :)

And sh!t-comments too are becoming a problem. I've been feeling this same aggravation regarding crap posts. I'm not sure what can be done about it, other than we as a community decide to only upvote quality content and comments.

But many times those who try more, are the least rewarded, but life is like that, and there is no need to grieve.

We should vote on what we want to see here. I've been telling people to not worry too much about curation rewards as you won't make much generally. I want Steemit to be an attractive place to be, not just a money grab.

I would add that as people are able to upvote unvaluable content at 100%, some other have the right to downvote the same content at 100% in order to reach a consens over the rewards of that post. Unfortunately, this is enough to start a war...

Let's try to not step into elitism about what is trash and what is quality content shall we. After all that's what others do outside of this STEEMIT framework. I say let everybody decide for his or herself what is valuable and what is not.

this topic got me thinking on ways to change the system, one solution might be to flip the 25/75 backwards but it depends if there's something i've overlooked.

I completely agree with you. People do not understand that we are in a world where absolutely everything is relative and that we all have free shelter. Then maybe what is good for you, for me it is not and in the opposite direction. Regards

Interesting; but, I stopped reading trending/hot/promoted posts long ago. 

I use the Steem Now app. I can read from anyone's feed by adding their name in the user name. I get to read the work of the people they follow. Because, most likely they are people I follow, I find their feeds interesting.

I also read the new posts coming in on the channel from the Steem Now app.

I agree with @chitty that this platform is decentralized with freedoms to vote your will. Who am I to say, or even care for that matter, how someone else uses their vote? I do believe we owe a responsibility to be fair to the community; but, as noted, life, in general, really isn't fair.

It was an diplomatic answer but the perfect one .
Many whales are defending these types of creators and I don't know why but this is happening on ground !
But the fact is there are lots of good whales too who are fighting against them without getting worried about their profits . @randowhale is the biggest example of it !  Bdw it is good that these types of things are happening right before happening hard fork and there is time for @ned and his team to fix this issue !
Its time for some cleanning!

yeah I also see a lot of shit posts at Trending list! But no one is wish to talk about it! Coz of fear to get flag from Reward pool rapers! Sometimes it's disappointing me! But nothing to do! If whale favor to read our posts and share their upvote power upon us that would be a great idea than providing their valuable upvotes on shit posts!
One more thing I hate that Auto vote feature! it's draining vote power of a person for nothing! Great you decided to discuss about this matter!

Es verdad, aveces pienso lo mismo en cuanto a una "publicación de mier" que pudiera ser vista por otro usuario como una joya!! es por ello que cada quien puede decirdir como usar su voting power. Sin embargo, eso funciona como pescar... cuando menos te lo piensas pescas un pez grande o un delfin...pero algunos no corren con la misma suerte :/ y se encuentran nadando en el mar equivocado. Gracias por tu punto de vista!!

Lamentablemente eso desmotiva, y cuando uno ve publicaciones de porquería con una buena recompensa, te sientes mal, sabiendo que uno ha gastado horas de trabajo para publicar un post de calidad. o hacer algo diferente, pues...! al final estoy de acuerdo contigo. hay que dejar a cada quien hacer lo que quiera y punto. ser feliz como una lombriz. jejejeje
