The best way to avoid the  monster depression is by doing what gives you the greatest amount of happiness, is it cooking, playing with kids in the lobby, it can be anything. No human being is exempted    from  the monster depression, but it depends on how you handles it, it can start with something very little, harsh words from your boss at the office, jeering by peers or that interview you  screwed up.
