<table><tr><td>Hello dear Steemians,</td><td>Hallo liebe Steemians,</td></tr></table>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<table><tr><td>Today is #LostPlacesFriday at Steemit and this is my contribution to it. When it comes to forgotten places, we are somewhat preferred here in the east of Germany. Because here there are still places and places that have not been used for years and are slowly forgotten. Like this place of which I brought you pictures today.

<table><tr><td>The Bertzit Tower is an investment ruin in the north of Kahla, a district of the southern Brandenburg municipality of Plessa in the Elbe-Elster district.
The tower was built in the 1920s in the immediate vicinity of the brown coal mine mine Ada and was part of a facility for brown coal refinement. Today, the remains of this plant, together with some other industrial buildings of the once neighboring brown coal mine, are protected as historical monuments.

<table><tr><td>Prehistory:</td><td>Vorgeschichte:</td></tr></table>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<table><tr><td>In the mid-19th century, the industrialization of the Elbe-Elster region began with the discovery of brown coal oaks and the construction of the first railway tracks. The Prussian Lieutenant-Colonel Hermann von Ploetz (1816-1879), who had been living on the estate in Döllingen near Elsterwerda since 1856, also had his drill on brown coal. The drilling was successful, and on April 1, 1857, the coal mine Emilia east of the village was promoted for the first time in the surrounding area brown coal in civil engineering. This mine existed only for a short time. Many other pits soon developed in the surrounding area, but many of them, like the Robert pit, only a few kilometers to the west, were abandoned shortly afterwards.</td><td>Mitte des 19.

<table><tr><td> Ada mine:</td><td>Grube Ada:</td></tr></table>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

<table><tr><td>In 1911 the next brown coal mine was opened in the region. North of the railway line Falkenberg-Kohlfurt, the Döllingen mining company operated the Tiefbau-Braunkohlengrube Ada on the boundary between Kahla and Döllingen. The coal seam here had a thickness of about 4 meters, above it lay a 30-meter-high deck mountain. The degradation was carried out using the pier-fracture method. By means of a reel and an electric motor, the coal was conveyed to an angle by means of an oblique plane, with carbon-drying units and two briquettes. The piece of raw coal was sold mostly for regional customers. A large part of the inferior coal served as a self-sufficient source of steam and electrical energy. Up to 170 workers were employed in the pit, which occupied an area of 118,000 square meters at the beginning of the 1920s. In 1914 the annual production was 58,000 tonnes of brown coal. In the first year after the First World War this figure could be reached again.</td><td>Im Jahr 1911 wurde die nächste Braunkohlengrube in der Region eröffnet.

<table><tr><td>In September 1915, the colliery submitted a request to the responsible ministry in Senftenberg to build a Bertzit plant (named after the Bertzit procedure mentioned below). In 1920, on the initiative of the management of the Ada mine, the company was established in the immediate vicinity of the pit of the 35-meter Bertzit Tower.</td><td>Im September 1915 stellte die Zeche bei der zuständigen Bergbehörde in Senftenberg einen Antrag zum Bau einer Bertzit-Anlage (benannt nach dem unten erwähnten Bertzit-Verfahren). 1920 entstand auf Initiative der Geschäftsführung der die Grube Ada betreibenden Gesellschaft in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zur Grube der 35 Meter hohe Bertzit-Turm.</td></tr></table>

<table><tr><td>This tower, a square in plan reinforced concrete frame, was part of a planned factory plant where the coal drying developed by the Munich Camillo Mahnhardt Bertzit-procedure be used applies. This process has been developed for the drying of low-quality fuels containing a lot of moisture, such as peat. Since the proportion lignitischer and thus low-quality coal in the pit was relatively high, proven processes appeared that in Pasing in Munich in a pilot plant attractive, especially since it (per volume or unit weight) of the conveyed fuel promised a cost improvement by doubling the calorific value.</td><td>Dieser Turm, ein im Grundriss quadratischer Stahlbeton-Skelettbau, war Teil einer geplanten Fabrikanlage, in der zur Kohletrocknung das von dem Münchner Camillo Mahnhardt entwickelte Bertzit-Verfahren zur Anwendung gelangen sollte.

<table><tr><td>At 250 ° to 300 ° C., a high-quality fuel similar to the anthracite should be obtained in a reaction process carried out under air-termination. The Bertzit stock company in Berlin-Charlottenburg and the Bertzit-Gesellschaft mbH in Munich became the majority shareholder of the project. The Döllinger Bergbaugesellschaft was presumably however only a minority shareholder, but had a seat on the company's supervisory board.

<table><tr><td>It is largely in the dark, which is why the construction of this facility has never been completed and the Bertzit Tower has finally become an investment ruin. Regional historians suspect the reason for the technological immaturity of the previously unprecedented industrial scale. The brown coal mining in Kahla was reduced in 1929 as a result of its poor profitability; the following year, the last deep-pit mine in Liebenwerda was closed down with the Ada mine.</td><td> Es liegt weitgehend im Dunkeln, weshalb der Bau dieser Anlage nie vollendet wurde und der Bertzit-Turm letztlich zur Investitionsruine wurde.

<table><tr><td>The coal was won in the open-cast coal mine Lauchhammer, to which the mine counted. The mining director Friedrich von Delius, among other things, had built the first overburden conveyor bridge in the world in 1924 in the neighboring mine "Agnes" in Plessa. This contributed extremely to the rationalization of the degradation. According to the local historian Jürgen Bartholomäus, the coal mine of the Ada mine was still stored at the Senftenberg ministry in the early 1990s.</td><td>Die Kohle wurde im Braunkohlenrevier Lauchhammer, zu dem die Grube zählte, inzwischen überwiegend längst im Tagebau gewonnen.

<table><tr><td>The 35 meter high ruin of the Bertzit Tower, which is visible in the lowlands, is now regarded as the oldest investment area in the region. The striking shape and similarity of the building with a Bavarian church tower, or with the lighthouse of Alexandria was intended and is to be understood as a consequence of the industrial culture in its time of origin. After the end of the last millennium there were threatening signs that this plant would be demolished in the near future, it was finally put under monument protection. The facility is now largely self-contained. The region is home to the Plessa hydroelectric power station, the Lauchhammer power plant, the Louise briquette factory in Domsdorf, and the F60 underground mining mine, which is another significant remnant of the former brown coal mining.</td><td>Die in der Niederung weithin sichtbare 35 Meter hohe Ruine des Bertzit-Turms gilt heute als die älteste Investitionsruine in der Region.

<table><tr><td>The district of Kahla is located on the Bundesstrasse 169, as well as on the railway line Ruhland-Falkenberg / Elster. Several cycle paths connect the village and the industrial monument Bertzit Tower with the sights in the surrounding, the natural park Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft and the adjacent Schradenland. For example, with the Tour Brandenburg, which was opened in 2007, the longest cycling route in Germany with a length of 1,111 kilometers crosses the district. Further cycling routes are the Fürst-Pückler-Weg, the 108 km-long Schwarze Elster cycling route and the Route Kohl-Wind & Wasser, a 250 km-long energy-historical trail with 14 stations through the Elbe-Elster-Land.</td><td>Der Ortsteil Kahla befindet sich an der Bundesstraße 169, sowie an der Eisenbahnstrecke Ruhland–Falkenberg/Elster.

@bescouted ·
I never knew that this category of hashtags existed before so thank you for pointing it out. I have quite a few images to share and some interesting places to show where people have abandoned the buildings are some theme parks. Your post is really informative and illustrations are really nice thank you for sharing.
