Why We Love Our Children

<p>Because we love ourselves and our child is part of us, therefore if we don’t love our children it’s like not loving ourselves - which is a betrayal and against human nature.</p>

<p>Some parents see their children as the “Best version of themselves”, thus loving their child(ren) more than their own lives and are willing to sacrifice it. If their child disappoints them later on there is always hope (humans love hope) the child will rectify and become better than them (as the child has more promise because he/she is younger and the parent is older and likely to die sooner).</p>

<p>For many parents loving their children is self serving - they love their children because they bring THE PARENT so much joy, and happiness. Some people have simply always wanted to be parents for the unique connection and sense of purpose a child can bring. Parents can also love their children because a child can fill a void - and be a distraction from inner or outer turmoil or discontent.</p>

<p>People also love and appreciate beauty (whether we like to admit it or not), innocence, kindness - all of which babies and young children tend to represent. Looking at babies/young children is like looking at a puppy you find most adorable and funny - they act like mini drunk adults without being an unattractive real drunk adult.</p>

<p>Additionally, a child provides a sense of power (and humans love power): controlling someone else, being able to dictate what another person can or can’t do, telling them what’s right/wrong. Some people haven’t had the opportunity/luck/resources/ability to build a crazy successful career/business; on a day to day basis most humans are effectually powerless at what we spend the majority of our lives doing :: working. Until your child is 18+, and sometimes even then depending on finances, you have almost complete power over your children, their creation, their growth, their development. Being able to control = power. Plus the development stage also plays into the sense of purpose, sense of unique accomplishment.</p>

Giving love to our children, gives as fruit more love, a plant that will not stop producing.
