After the washing of feet at the last supper, Jesus in the Gospel of John, left his last teachings to his disciples, and spoke to them of that love (Agape) that is the new commandment, the love by which we are citizens of the Kingdom of God and heirs of eternal life: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" John 13:34.
This love of Jesus has a great resemblance to the perfect love taught by the greek philosopher Plato in his book the Banquet, because this love is the love perfected by the nature of the good, this love is the love that comes from the wisdom of God.
And this spiritual love has something special, it is not a love related to concupiscence, that is to say with the desire to possess the loved one in a selfish way, but with friendship, the good of our neighbor matters as much as our own, Jesus taught: "Love your neighbor as yourself" Mark 12:31.
That is why this love unites minds and hearts, in a single will, the will that is in the eternal wisdom of the creator of the universe, in taking care of the new commandment of Jesus lies the strength of true spiritual unity between brothers and sisters: "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love" John 15:10.
How many times do we christians sin because we forget this beautiful treasure that is the love of Jesus, sin is painful and deeply destructive. Jesus loves us and wants us to live as brothers and not as enemies.
If we always keep in mind the love of Jesus, we will be blessed with the spiritual goods that come from God, and this is not a simple voluntarism, it is also the result of living in harmony with the ethical laws of the universe, because in the end we all reap what we sow.
