Website is really slow by ihazaname

Website is really slow

I don't know if the problem is with the servers or the web design but this site is really sluggish. When I upvote there's a really long delay before the upvote registers, sometimes when I try to browse trending the "loading circle" keeps spinning until I refresh.

Has it always been this way or is it just because the website has been getting a lot of attention lately? Is there anything I can do to make this website faster?

The steemit.com website is usually opening up fast, however it may appear slow at times with the problem often caused by the external images and videos included in articles. They can be located on various websites and some of these websites may be experiencing higher load and serving the content slower. So even when voting it might still be loading some external content and that could still cause a slowdown or appearance of such in the steemit.com website itself.
