For me it's a really tough question because I'm strongly against suicide and I feel it's more of an escape and an act of selfishness, but at the same time, I understand just how easy it is to be seduced by the temptations of suicide when you're depressed, especially if you're someone that everybody feels is okay and thus never checks up on.

You see the thing about death is that it may come for you, but its effects are felt by everyone else but you. It's the people that you leave behind that are going to mourn you, it's the people that you leave behind that are going to feel the pain of your loss. To commit suicide is to deliberately make the people who love you suffer and that's something that doesn't sit well with me, looking at it from this point of view, then I believe that they don't deserve any sympathy.

Now I've been depressed before, as a matter of fact, I was depress for much of my early years in college so yes the thought of commiting suicide has actually floated around in my head. At the time it just felt like the logical thing to do because there was nobody I could talk to about how I was feeling. I was the one who talked to people when they felt sad, I was the one people called when they needed encouragement, but I didn't have anybody doing that for me, especially when I needed it the most.

The thoughts of suicide are extremely seductive, I mean just jump of the bridge or swallow that pill or cut that wrist and it's all over, all the pain and all the suffering, it's no wonder that alot of people commit suicide. Looking at it from this point of view, I feel they deserve sympathy because nobody truly knows what they're going through till they die and most times people end up suffering till they just can't take it anymore.

Personally, I don't think they deserve sympathy, but I know full well that's not completely true. The world isn't black and white, it's in shades of grey and different people commit suicide for different reasons, why they committed suicide determines whether or not they deserve any sympathy from me.

I hope this helps.

Do individuals who submit suicide merit any sensitivity?
life
"
