json_metadata"{"musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","appDepth":2,"musingAppVersion":"1.1","appBody":"<p>If you look at the stats between countries, you will find that in the last 10-20 years, the non-religious\/atheist have been taking bigger and bigger piece of that pie chart in predominantly christian countries.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, often, the non-religious\/atheist numbers have many times doubled.<\/p>\n<p>Let's get this straight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Atheists are not the ones that create families 2+3.<\/p>\n<p>The primary reason for the numbers in that category growing is because of peoples de-conversion.<\/p>\n<p>Now, sex scandals have been coming up every year for years now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I'm sure it is a strong contributing factor.<\/p>\n<p>However, as an ex-christian myself, having majority of my friends also be de-converts,&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have not hear a single person be like \"Yeah, that priest diddling some kids in another town really made me question the programming.\"<\/p>\n<p>I'm more convinced that in the age where people overall don't go around hungry, and our loved ones don't fall sick and die at the rate of 1 in 2 before the age of 40, we have better things to do than to wish upon the star for divine intervention and look for refuge and hope in community that promises exactly that.<\/p>\n<p>Over generations, the cultural\/religious programming kicks is to a lesser and lesser extend, and as we have access to education and time for thinking we can really start to question.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Questioning Christianity will not have dire consequences in today world.<\/p>\n<p>People are free to do it, and they come to correct conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>In the \"Christian World\", non-religious\/atheist is the fastest growing \"religious\" group.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, in the context of the whole earth, the blue ribbon for the fastest growing group belongs to Islam.<\/p>\n<p>But that's more about the birth rate rather than conversions.<\/p>\n<p>Christianity will continue to be the biggest religion for a while, but over all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It will be shrinking.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, Islam turns out to be a religion of \"the poor\" as well, and as we advance it will follow the same path.<\/p>\n<p><br><\/p>","appTitle":"Do you think the Catholic Church will see its population weaken\/reduced after so many sexual abuse scandals?","appTags":["question","religion","politics","history","life","family","love","money"],"musingPostType":"answer","appParentPermlink":"p3qdj75aq","app":"musing\/1.1","appParentAuthor":"hlezama","appCategory":"question"}"
