Best positions one can ever come up with is being able to have a branch to hold so they could still stand. Well, it can help to incorporate ads on Steemit, though I don't have that much trust with Google Adsense, knowing Google which was centralized, and had deleted a lot of Google Adsense accounts. <\/p><p>It's good to have the ads but it could be better to have our own Ad Network. I heard social media app PiePie (formerly Lit) is working on their own Ad Network. I think that it is totally fine that they are doing it and I am okay with it. &nbsp;It isn't going to keep me from using the platform. &nbsp;Ads are so prevalent these days that I think for the most part people don't even notice them. &nbsp;The same will probably be true with Steemit.<\/p>\n<p>It certainly does put things in perspective though when you visit a website and you get the pop up saying, \"we notice you are using an ad blocker\". &nbsp;Then they go on to explain how they rely on ads for revenue. &nbsp;I think a lot of times we assume that these places don't really need that money and they are just being greedy.<\/p>\n<p>As I said though, the recent happenings with Steemit have shined a new light on that. &nbsp;At least for me anyway. &nbsp;I can see now how in many cases ads are a necessary evil. &nbsp;Does that mean I am going to turn off my ad blocker extension?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No way! &nbsp;But I am also not going to stop using sites that choose to use ads to support their business. At the rate of steem price decline they already had to lay off 70% of the staff. Money was hmoraging from steemit inc. Now that they are on a skeleton crew I think the ad revenue should keep the lights on and the project moving forward. Steemit is a unique network, clearly the first mover in terms of being a decentralized social media blockchain. And with few users, it still hasn't achieved its full potential network effect. Once enough users are there, sub groups like reddit, corporate tie-ups etc, ads will be super useful revenue source, all paid via steem or sbd. Also, the dapps being built on the steem blockchain, will add further to that network effect. Look at steemhunt for example, which aims to be something like kickstarter and product review platform. That is a great feature on the steem blockchain. So steemit will sustain in the long run.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The crypto winter is affecting everyone but I think with patience, we will get through this.
