In my state, and I believe in almost all of them, only four candidates were on the ballot, but 13 more were write-ins. All states have a "write-in" choice on the ballot. To vote for a write-in candidate, check (or click) the "write-in" choice and write (enter) the name of the candidate for whom the vote is cast. Anyone can be written into this space, whether or not the person has a formal campaign for presidency.

Every state has their own election rules: [here](http://presidentials.mytimetovote.com/Rules-for-voting-for-a-write-in-candidate.html). Nine states don't allow any write-ins at all, like Arkansas and Oklahoma. In Oregon, we can write anyone in, but unless the total of all write-ins has the most votes, they never separate out anyone. So maybe someone voted for me, lol. Here's a list of all the people that filed for being a write-in, somewhere, in some state, for the 2016 Presidential election: [here](http://presidentials.mytimetovote.com/Write-In-Candidates-running-for-president.html).

Thank you for that information, I was unaware of these rules. However, I did not see one name on the list - one who I had heard was gaining ground: McMullan. I remember hearing of him during the the latter part of the campaigning and during the election coverage. Where I am, I heard his name even more than Johnson or Stein. (I hope you did get some votes :)
