Vast Expanse

Looking out from the edge of the North Rim on the Kaibab Plateau there's a vast expanse of rock and barren land mostly devoid of water. But actually the mighty Colorado River runs through it. Just past the mountain on the left and almost hidden from view, a four hundred foot deep gorge has been cut through solid rock from millions of years of erosion as the water flows by.

Whew. That's quite a view. This looks familiar. I'm guessing this was on one of our trips up there? Or was this a different time?
The layers of clouds in this one over the huge field/plains and with the mountains to add more perspective in those proportions is a powerful combination. What an impressive display of nature! Great shot!

Hi @irvinesimages ,the clouds look like pieces of ice in the sky, it makes me think of an arctic movie, obviously the giant pieces of ice were on the ground, and the basic difference is the beautiful shape of the clouds, very nice your job I congratulate you again
