# Good Morning

After nearly a couple of weeks, I could go to sleep by 1 a.m. which gave me a good amount of sleep to wake up at 6 a.m. and go for my morning outing. The weather is hot being the summertime, but it is not overwhelming.

I stepped out thinking that I would decide on the way if I wanted to run or walk. After all, it was quite warm in the morning. Once out, I realized a run would be great and that’s what I did.

Let’s look at my morning regime.

![Health.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/namok/AK56s9KTVNicxUiaDsbFX1EwTT5UtUSbJW8sDoiMS1pdppSafGhhbg9DZftktV5.jpg)

I did a four-kilometer run today. That’s the basic distance I run while going over three flyovers. So, it was a good resistance run. The bulk of my work (or workout) today was more on the spiritual side.

While I did start with meditation, once back HOME, I spent a really good amount of time on Ho’oponopono to clear a lot of muck in my head. It was a useful exercise as I could feel the tension in my body melt away. More so, my lip eczema. I could feel the rush of blood to my lips when things cleared up. That tingling, and itching feeling before my crusty lips started to feel soft again. I could purse my lips without it tearing off. It was such a good session that I still feel great about myself.

All in all, the physical and spiritual pursuit was a happy one and I am really grateful that it happened. And while I spoke about Ho’oponopono, here is my write-up on Ho’oponopono for those interested in learning more.

Anyway, that's it from me for now. I will see you all tomorrow.

The Hidden Dangers of Chronic Stress: Unraveling its Impact on Physical and Mental Health
In today's fast-paced world, stress has become an inevitable part of life for many. While occasional stress can be manageable and even motivating, chronic stress poses a serious threat to both physical and mental well-being. From cardiovascular issues to mental health disorders, the repercussions of prolonged stress are profound and far-reaching.

![yS6PxLwTRnOkFiTvdOgg2Q.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfXAK7RdRZUibozAzmfhdZvRQ33rH9sknohCKLJAd4huN/yS6PxLwTRnOkFiTvdOgg2Q.jpg)

At its core, stress is the body's natural response to a perceived threat or challenge. However, when stress becomes chronic, the body remains in a constant state of high alert, triggering a cascade of physiological responses that can wreak havoc on various systems.

One of the most immediate effects of chronic stress is its impact on cardiovascular health. The continuous release of stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, can lead to elevated blood pressure, increased heart rate, and constricted blood vessels. Over time, this strain on the cardiovascular system raises the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke.

Furthermore, chronic stress takes a toll on the immune system, compromising its ability to fend off infections and illnesses. Research has shown that prolonged stress can suppress immune function, leaving individuals more susceptible to infections, autoimmune disorders, and even certain types of cancer.

The brain is not immune to the detrimental effects of chronic stress either. Persistent stress can impair cognitive function, affecting memory, concentration, and decision-making abilities. Moreover, it has been linked to the development of mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. The constant activation of the body's stress response can also contribute to structural changes in the brain, particularly in areas associated with emotion regulation and stress management.

Beyond its physiological effects, chronic stress can also manifest in various symptoms that impact daily life. These may include headaches, muscle tension, digestive problems, and insomnia. Additionally, stress can exacerbate existing health conditions, worsening symptoms and decreasing overall quality of life.

Addressing chronic stress requires a multifaceted approach that encompasses both lifestyle changes and therapeutic interventions. Adopting stress-reducing practices such as mindfulness meditation, exercise, and adequate sleep can help mitigate the effects of stress on the body and mind. Seeking support from mental health professionals, counselors, or support groups can provide valuable tools for coping with stress and building resilience.

In conclusion, chronic stress is not merely a temporary inconvenience but a serious threat to health and well-being. By understanding its impact on both physical and mental health, individuals can take proactive steps to manage stress effectively and safeguard their long-term health. Prioritizing self-care, seeking support when needed, and making lifestyle changes can empower individuals to navigate life's challenges with resilience and vitality.

# Good Morning

Another late-night schedule took a bit out of my morning regime. I got up really late by my early morning standards. I have to find a workaround for my late-night schedules. Although the nights help me get the work completed, but my mornings go for a toss. Let’s see how I schedule myself.

So, did I manage any exercise today? Of course, I did. I went for a walk in the morning and scheduled my dumbbell workout for the rest of the day as I got a break. I will be focusing on weights and calisthenics.

Did I manage to do it?

![Health.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/namok/AK56s9KTVNicxUiaDsbFX1EwTT5UtUSbJW8sDoiMS1pdppSafGhhbg9DZftktV5.jpg)

Yes, I did. I first focused on weights alone. The body parts I was keen to work out were the arms and abs. I spent an hour working out. But my calisthenics regime couldn’t happen immediately. I had to take a break. Later in the afternoon, before lunch, I managed my calisthenics regime. I gave a good half an hour to the workout. At the end of it, I was so hungry that I didn’t want to freshen up before lunch.

Common sense prevailed and I did shower. And then, had an extra long lunch session. I was really hungry. I guess, I shouldn’t work out closer to eating time. 😊. Earlier in the day, I completed a few sessions of Ho’oponopono too. It was quite something. Here is my write-up on Ho’oponopono for those interested in learning more.

# Good Morning

I had work till early morning 4 a.m. and so, it was not possible for me to go out for a run. I wanted to but I thought of better to stay inside than cause any pain to my ankles. Since I wasn’t planning to go out, I slept and got up at 8 a.m.

By my morning standards, 8 a.m. is ultra late and hence I was on a ventilator finishing the morning chores and getting on with my work. Wifey had to go out early too, so I couldn’t take her help. It was all-out solo work. I guess, that would have amped up my morning. 😊

But then I had to do the traditional exercise regime and I did. What did I do?

Today the focus was on weights and it was all with my trusted twelve kg ones. I got working on my arms, back, and abs. After that, I followed a few of my calisthenics regimes. Man, I love it. Calisthenics is just another level if you ask me. You cannot go wrong with it.

# Good Morning

Today was a very rushed morning with a meeting at my daughter’s school at 8:30 a.m. Despite me getting up at 5:00 a.m. there wasn’t time left for a run or exercise. I had to get things ready and leave for school.

Well, long story short, we were happy to complete the things at my daughter’s school but did miss some good physical exercise. Once we were back, I was focused on my regular day's work. And did I have a lot to do, oh boy!

But I still managed to get some physical exercise. And I am proud of that. So, what did I do?

Today’s workout was at home. I went back to my dumbbells and focused on my arms, abs, and back. It was a forty-five-minute workout, but I wanted to do something more. I added my calisthenics regime to the workout. I think that was the icing on the cake. I loved the regime I followed. It was all worth it.

After the workout, I did manage to meditate for some time. But the clincher was the Ho’oponopono sessions after my exercise and also during the day. Here is my write-up on Ho’oponopono for those interested in learning more.

# Good Morning

I had written about my ankles hurting during the runs, and therefore, I had taken a break for two days. The feet feel fine. It is an odd situation that I feel pain before the run or after it, but not during the run. What am I supposed to do? Not run at all?

Of course, that’s a rhetorical question. I will run soon again.

I have used the previous two days for meditation and some deep healing using both EFT and Ho’oponopono. The amount of emotional muck that comes out is astounding. I am now a proponent of both emotional and physical well-being. Only physical can take us only so far. Emotional is the actual game changer.

Anyway, what was my physical regime like?

![Health.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/namok/AK56s9KTVNicxUiaDsbFX1EwTT5UtUSbJW8sDoiMS1pdppSafGhhbg9DZftktV5.jpg)

I went out for a walk in the morning and since it was a Sunday, I could return at leisure. I don’t enjoy walks as much as a run, but with my ankle pain I didn’t want to push things. I completed a three kilometer walk and my fit bit was bored measuring my progress. 😊

Once home, I sat back for some Ho’oponopono sessions, especially, focusing on my ankles. Quite a lot of things came out and I was surprised that I could have been carrying so much stuff for no reason. No wonder my warrior ankles were complaining and yet carrying on with the run with me. Kudos to my ankle!

I will start running once again in a couple of days and I look forward to that. In the meantime, emotional cleansers being applied. 😊 And since I have spoken so much about Ho’oponopono, you might want to know what it is all about. Fitness: 11th April 2024 + A Did You Know Fitness Question
<div class="text-justify">

# Good Morning

After yesterday’s run, I got up at 4:30 a.m. for my second day in continuation. However, since yesterday my ankles have been hurting. This is not a new phenomenon and has been happening for a couple of years, at least. It’s a funny pain.

Why funny? The pain emanates only when I start running and surprisingly not when I am running. So, I have the pain when I start to run, and goes off when I run and returns once I stop running. You may think it has to do with my body warming up and hence me not feeling the pain during the run. But that’s not the case. I have been running for years now and I know the difference. Anyway, that’s something I have to unearth.

So, what did I do today?

![Health.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/namok/AK56s9KTVNicxUiaDsbFX1EwTT5UtUSbJW8sDoiMS1pdppSafGhhbg9DZftktV5.jpg)

Since I was up in the morning, I meditated. I used Dr. Dispenza’s blessing the energy center meditation. After that, I hopped on to a few sessions of Ho’oponopono. One of the things that I like to do is find metaphysical reasons for ailments. I like Louise Hay’s book on this topic. Since my ankle has been hurting for long for no obvious or apparent reason, I went ahead and checked it out. Here’s what it says.

Ankle (Issues): Inflexibility and guilt. Ankles represent the ability to receive pleasure.

So, I tried Ho’oponpono on inflexibility and guilt. I don’t think I have resolved it yet, but I will keep trying. The most curious point is ankles represent our ability to receive pleasure. I wonder, how I am stopping that from happening. Further introspection is required from my side. Let’s see where it goes.

And since I have spoken so much about Ho’oponopono, you might want to know what it is all about. Here is my write-up on Ho’oponopono for those interested in learning more.

Okay, this is one of the unexpected records, but it is interesting nonetheless. The fun part is not many of you would know about it. Did you know there is a record for going up a flight of stairs with a person on your head? Yeah, there is.

Giang Quoc Nghiep and Giang Quoc Co, both brothers, hold the record. The brother went up 100 stairs while balancing the other on his head. The record was created on 23rd December 2021. The Vietnam nationals went up 100 stairs in just 53.6 seconds.

Have a look at the video here:

The question is - can we go up 100 stairs in 53.6 seconds? Forget about the load on the head.

Fitness: 10th April 2024 + A Did You Know Fitness Question
<div class="text-justify">

# Good Morning

I must admit that it has been a while since I went for a run. My last 21-km was on 25th February and ever since I hadn’t gone out for a run. I did manage a three kilometer once in the last nearly one-and-a-half month, but that was all it. So, I am happy that I went out for the run today.

I had been busy with some technique I was working on mastering and now that I am close to it, I thought it was best to start again. Thankfully, even with the minimal exercise and runs, I have been doing quite well health-wise. Thank God!

So, how did my schedule look today?

![Health.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/namok/AK56s9KTVNicxUiaDsbFX1EwTT5UtUSbJW8sDoiMS1pdppSafGhhbg9DZftktV5.jpg)

I’ve got to say that I thought I would go out for a walk, and didn’t even know when it changed to a run. But I am glad that it changed to a run. 😊 I managed four kilometer today and was pleasantly surprised that I could do so without much practice or exercise in the recent past.

After the run, I walked for two kilometer to cool down. All-in-all it was a great feeling. I will continue with my regular regimes once again. The only difference was the temperature. The last time I ran, it was in the winter but now we are looking at summer. It was still cool, though. I did sweat a lot as compared to my last run in February.

Anyway, winding up my morning regime is always complete with Ho’oponopono. Here is my write-up on Ho’oponopono for those interested in knowing more.

[What Is Ho'oponopono? | The Hawaiian Healing Technique](https://peakd.com/hive-120078/@namok/what-is-hooponopono-or-the-hawaiian-healing-technique)

Have fun reading and practicing.

Anyway, that's it from me for now. I will see you all tomorrow.

Namaste.

😊

You ought to already be aware of how crucial diet is to your overall well-being. A balanced diet with the right nutrients is necessary if you want to live a healthy life. You may frequently hear that eating well has a significant impact on your lifestyle and quality of life, but have you ever given it any real consideration as to why? Do you truly know why this is so crucial?

You must educate yourself as much as possible about the significance of optimal nutrition if you truly want to take the necessary actions to live the long life you deserve, maintain your best level of health, and cherish those years. Your body and health are greatly impacted by what you consume.

1. What is optimal nutrition?
2. What nutrients do you need to be healthy?
3. What foods give you these nutrients?

The Significance of Adequate Nutrition
A healthy diet is crucial to your overall fitness and well-being. Research has shown that maintaining a good diet can actually extend a person's life. The relationship between long life and long-term health and adequate nutrition has been shown.

Observing society, you will see that the amount of overweight and obese individuals is rising. In addition, you'll notice issues with dry, dry skin, dry hair, bad teeth, and acne. Many people take medication for heart disease, high blood pressure, constipation, stomach issues, headaches, and acid reflux, among other conditions. The fact that the majority of people receive very little information on what is truly causing their disease or condition may be even more concerning than the high number of medications. They are given a tablet instead.

Many people are unaware that their diet—or lack thereof—may be the root cause of many health issues. It's also important for you to realize that, as your life progresses, you will need to modify and vary the amount of food you consume. You must adjust your diet as you go through each stage of life, just as toddlers and teenagers require various diets. The greatest method to maintain optimal health is to know what is best for you at each stage of life.

Separate and Large Nutrients
Many individuals are told that they must eat a healthy diet, but what does it really mean? Which nutrients are essential for good health? A wide range of diverse macro- and micronutrients are necessary for optimal nutrition. Certain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are examples of micronutrients. Carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids are the constituents of macronutrient-rich foods.

![pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3768916.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRbBTeQRmU9Tgj5uosUKzkz6trPDJ4EzrzAbd4G5o4aJt/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3768916.jpg)

A lot of myths are spread much too frequently about nutrients, our bodies, and how we use them. For this reason, when making plans to alter your food and lifestyle, it is important that you have all the information. Malnutrition affects a large number of people, many of whom are aware of it. Many overweight individuals may be suffering from malnutrition. Just because you are eating does not mean you are eating the right things.

Malnutrition may be a factor in the obesity epidemic. Eating does not guarantee that what you are eating is healthy.

The vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that your body requires for optimal health are known as micronutrients. Your physique, sex, age, and other variables will determine which ones you get and in what quantities. Since each person is unique, there isn't a one strategy that suits them all. You must discover what suits you best. This is the point at which a lot of myths around what foods are suitable or not arise. It's a fact that having too much of someone may be detrimental, just as having too little does. It all comes down to striking a balance. This implies that the "No Carb" or "All-Carb" diets that are so widely available are actually not the greatest options for you.

![pexels-photo-936611.jpeg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZJ54Rtn2Qj5PtJ9cLaUT72mWj6AA1tYXBL3sqmvUp68X/pexels-photo-936611.jpeg)

The things you put into your body have a significant effect on your general health and wellbeing. Nowadays, more people eat quick, highly unhealthy meals like frozen dinners and fast food. Certain foods contain addictive ingredients that might cause you to want more and more of them.
Most people eat because they are hungry, and a lot of these items don't actually fulfill your appetite, so you end up wanting more or something different. They still include a lot of fat, calories, and other ingredients that your body does not require.

Establish the Promise
Examine your lifestyle in general if you are committed to achieving the finest possible level of health. Do you consume the correct foods? Do you work out? Do you regularly receive enough fresh air to breathe? Do you have wholesome relationships? If you consistently say "no" to these inquiries, resolve to make a difference. Consult a nutritionist, your friends, or your family. Check to see if there are support groups in your area related to health and lifestyle changes. Look into joining your local gym. Do your research and then purchase the right nutritional supplements that will help you achieve your goals. Verify whether there are support bunches in your space connected with wellbeing and way of life changes. Investigate joining your nearby exercise center. Investigate as needs be and afterward buy the right healthful enhancements that will assist you with accomplishing your objectives.

the meaning behind the courage not to be liked
"Il coraggio di non piacere," a concept rooted in Alfred Adler's philosophical tenets, underscores the possibility of living a fulfilled vita unencumbered by past or future anxieties, focusing instead on interpersonal relationships 1. This outlook opens a path toward happiness through understanding and embracing the essence of one's individual journey, an approach that has resonated globally, with the book selling over 3.5 million copies 2. Adopting this perspective shifts the focus from seeking approval to valuing freedom and authenticity, critical elements in constructing a life defined by the courage to be true to oneself 4. It champions the present as the moment where change and contentment are achievable, challenging tutti to redefine their relationship with societal expectations and personal happiness 2 4.

Understanding the Fear of Disapproval
Understanding the fear of disapproval involves recognizing and addressing specific fears and their origins. Identifying these fears is crucial, as understanding what one is afraid of is the first step in overcoming it. Fear of disapproval often stems from low self-worth and using projection as a defense mechanism. This fear can also be linked to early childhood experiences, leading to sensitivity to criticism and rejection. To combat this fear, several strategies are recommended:

Identify Specific Fears: Recognize what you are afraid of to address it effectively 56.
Understand the Cause: Low self-worth and projection are common origins of the fear of disapproval 7.
Link to Childhood Experiences: Early experiences can shape sensitivity to criticism and rejection 7.
Overcoming the fear of disapproval involves a multifaceted approach, including identifying the source of fear, challenging limiting beliefs, and taking small steps towards building confidence and self-esteem. It's also essential to seek support and embrace failure as a part of the process. Understanding that the fear of disapproval can stem from biological and psychological factors, such as our evolutionary history and past experiences with rejection, provides additional context for addressing this fear. By focusing on authenticity and aligning decisions with personal values and goals, individuals can work towards overcoming the fear of disapproval and its associated behaviors, such as people-pleasing, passivity, and passive-aggressiveness 89101112.

The Freedom of Authenticity
Living authentically involves a multifaceted approach to personal development and self-expression. Here, we outline key practices and benefits:

Practices for Living Authentically:

Live for yourself: Prioritize personal happiness and goals 13.
Get excited about something: Find and pursue passions 13.
Change your environment: Surround yourself with positivity 13.
Mind your own business: Focus on personal growth, not others' opinions 13.
Define what is essential: Identify and prioritize core values and beliefs 13.
Risk disappointing people: Accept that not everyone will agree or be pleased with your choices 13.
Develop a personal philosophy: Guide actions, thoughts, and decisions based on personal beliefs and values 15.
Benefits of Authenticity:

Personal and Professional Relationships: Authenticity fosters deeper connections and improves communication 1617.
Mental Health: Leads to better mood, lower anxiety and depression levels, and increased self-worth 17.
Resilience and Creativity: Enhances the ability to deal with challenges and explore new ideas 17.
Workplace Engagement: Authentic leaders inspire loyalty and increase employee motivation 18.
Embracing Vulnerability and Authentic Self-Awareness:

Acknowledge strengths and weaknesses, and see vulnerability as a strength 16.
Authentic self-awareness is the foundation for authenticity, requiring self-love and acceptance of one's imperfections 16.
This self-awareness impacts energy levels, creativity, and the ability to stay at ease during challenging situations 16.
By integrating these practices into daily life and recognizing their benefits, individuals can navigate the journey toward authenticity with confidence and purpose, leading to a more fulfilled and genuine existence.

Practical Steps to Cultivate Courage
Cultivating courage in the face of fear and disapproval is a journey that requires both introspection and action. Here are practical steps to foster courage and overcome fears:

Acknowledge and Confront Fear: Recognize your fears and confront them head-on. Use positive self-talk to boost your courage and get comfortable with being uncomfortable 19.
Develop a Plan and Take Small Steps: Create a concrete plan to build your courage. Start with small, manageable steps to face your fears, and gradually increase the challenge 56.
Surround Yourself with Support: Ensure you have a supportive network. Surround yourself with people who encourage and believe in you. Practice self-care and visualize your success to maintain a positive outlook 6.
By following these steps, individuals can gradually build their courage, enabling them to act despite their fears and embrace life's challenges with confidence 1319.

Real-life Stories of Embracing Unpopularity
Real-life stories of individuals who embraced their unpopularity and leveraged it into remarkable success illuminate the transformative power of perseverance and self-belief. These narratives underscore the essence of "il coraggio di non piacere" and its profound impact on personal and professional growth.

Eric Ottinger observed that many successful individuals were late bloomers, using their early-life discomforts as motivation to excel later in life 23.
Martijn Sjoorda transformed his high school bullying experiences into expertise in organizational dynamics, ultimately advising on high-performance teams 23.
J.K. Rowling battled depression and isolation in her youth, yet her resilience led to creating the globally cherished Harry Potter series 23.
These examples, among others, reveal a common thread: challenges and unpopularity can serve as catalysts for extraordinary achievements. They exemplify the journey from adversity to success, demonstrating the limitless potential of embracing one's true self, irrespective of societal approval.

Conclusion
Throughout the discourse, we've delved into the liberating precept of living with the courage to be disliked, a concept deeply embedded in Alfred Adler's philosophies. This exploration underscores the profound impact of embracing authenticity, overcoming the fear of disapproval, and fostering genuine connections unshackled by societal expectations. The remarkable global resonance of this idea, illustrated by real-life stories of individuals who transformed their adversities into strengths, highlights not only its validity but also its empowering effect on personal and professional development.

As we conclude, it is crucial to emphasize the transformative power of adopting a life of authenticity and courage. This path, while challenging, steers us towards unparalleled freedom, resilience, and fulfillment by aligning our actions with our true selves. Thus, adopting the courage to not be liked is not merely a philosophical exercise but a practical guide to cultivating a life rich in authenticity, purpose, and deep-seated contentment. By embarking on this journey, we unlock the potential to reshape our destiny, proving that the essence of our happiness and success lies in the courage to live authentically, beyond the confines of societal approval.

A Dull Day
If your night sleep is not good, it does impact the full day. Last night I was just not able to sleep. I was sleepy but I had so many thoughts going on my mind that it was disturbing my sleep. I was trying not to think and sleep, but it would just not happen and by the time I realized it was 4 a.m. and I was still tossing around on my bed. Morning, I had to wake up early also as by 9 a.m. had to leave for work. Finally after 4 I managed to sleep, but when I woke up at 8, I was not in my best mood and feeling as my sleep was not completed.

It is not a very common problem with me, I like to get my minimum 7 hours of peaceful and effortless sleep which makes me fresh and active for the next whole day and when this does not happen I feel a heavy head for the next whole day.

Specially today when I am in office and there was a management meet, this mood is just not the right one, and again it's going to be a long day. After finishing work when I go back home I do not wish to take a short nap because that will again disturb my tonight's sleep.

Studies on sleep deprivation connection to mental and physical health is so right. Not getting enough sleep on a regular basis does increase the risk of diseases and disorders.

For today I will keep it short and come back tomorrow with a fresh and better state of mind.

Just the tip
Hey Everyone! My name is Ash, I am from Canada and I have been suffering from severe social anxiety since 2015. I created this blog specifically to tell my story, and to bring awareness about mental health specifically social anxiety and dealing with it before and after as a parent.

I grew up with full of laughter, smiles and had lots of great friends. No matter where my friends and family where I was always there right with them. Either we went to the store, went to park or for a walk, talking on the phone etc... Sounds easy right? Well it was, until 2015 when my life completely changed because I thought I was dying in my sleep.

My family has always been distant from each other, even on holidays we didn't do much as I wish I did. My sister lived only 30 minutes away but only made the effort maybe twice a year to come see us. It was hard, my parents worked a lot to make ends meet and I always craved a close family but closest to family I ever got was a dinner at my uncles and my grandmothers house every couple of years.

I dealt with a lot of my emotions alone being the circumstances of not being as close with family, my parents working a lot but I did open up more as I got older to my mother. Her and I are similar in a lot of ways and I feel like she learnt a lot about herself and truly understood how I was feeling, my dad on the other hand was more of a "mental health doesn't exist", type of person which made me feel a little distant from him in that way. My sister and I are 18 years and lived a completely different life than I did, so she was also not as sympathetic and believed everything that I was feeling was "In my head."

Through out my journey of dealing with mental health, it obviously hasn't been easy but I will continue telling my story through the darkest and greatest times. But just know this is only the tip of the story.

Mental health involves your wellbeing and yout ability to function well without stress. There is no health without Mental health. If anything affects your mental health, it us safe to say you are not healthy.

A lot of people don't talk about Mental health or acknowledge it because when they think about Mental health, they talk about the extreme issues like someone going mad. It's not always the case.

Mental health problem is quite common and we need to get comfortable to talk about it. There are so many underlying factor to it and it can start from as little as anxiety to depression and bipolar disorder and the likes. It's only when you talk about it that you can get a diagnosis to know what needs to be fixed.

If you don't address some mental health problem, it takes its toll on you. Yes, there are some mental health issues that you will still be able to do the basic things like go to work and do what's expected of you but see it as driving a car with flat tyres.

Most people don't want to acknowledge the fact that they are not in the best of health and try to mask it with faith. It's okay to have faith but you still need to be able to admit things and then ask God for help. It's mostly psychological and social factors are the key things that affects our mental health and if they are not tackled the way they should, it affects us greatly.

Self esteem, attitude and beliefs, interpersonal relationships and the likes form the psychological aspect of things while trying to settle into a new country can take its toll too; gathering money, coming with kids into a new country, financial implications too, breaking away from known circle for the unknown...etc can make up that social aspect because reality sets in and you see things in a different light as there is no flexibility in the new country as you used to have back where you are coming from. You get more busy, no time for socials and the likes...it takes its toll on you whether you like to admit it or not.

Financial stress takes its toll on you too vecauae you work so hard and you notice there is nothing left at the end of the day. It can affect someone's mental health. Especially for migrants too that gets taxed on everything too. Accommodation can also be another big deal that can stress anyone...here in the UK and even in Lagos where you see agents charge you more than you are supposed to pay for a house rent. Relationship issues too can affect your mental health because of distance, change in role adjustments, etc. A lot of these things can affect your self esteem where you start to think something is wrong with you.

Look after your physical health. It's important to take good care of your physical health. Eat well, be active, exercise and the likes.

God is also a very important factor when it comes to dealing with your mental health. You cannot take God out of the equation.

You also need to meet with people. Socialize with people and connect with them. Speaking with people and socialising can help your mental health a lot.

Learn to relax, whine down and take things easy. Sometimes we work so hard that we forget to relax. Ask for help and allow yourself to be helped.

Thank you for your time.

Men's Mental Health, II.

1 in 4 men aged 16-24 had self-harmed while 1 in 4 of people with eating disorders are male. Half of males say social media, celebrity culture and mass media create pressure to have a "perfect body".

More males are dying by suicide than females as reports have shown. Males aged between 50 to 54 continue to have the highest suicide rate while experiencing burn outs and changes in behaviour. We should try and help support people's mental and physical well-being.

We all have a part to play and we don't have to ask unconcerned. You can be seated next to a broken person and you wouldn't know it. This video explains depression and suicide more than you can ever imagine and I hope you have a look at it: [[Instagram Link]](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3Q0hP_ttqZ/?igsh=Y3dpdG15MGZiMHMw)

Sometimes the signs are not obvious and it might just be someone trying to mask the pain by being overly excited. It's okay as men to talk to someone you can trust and for those who have noticed the obvious signs or something that is off, it's okay to ask twice: "How are you?". We live in a world where asking people how are you is always met with a short answer: "Fine". It's good to ask twice and ask how they are, really. It can birth a lot of emotions and opening up.

Prostrate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer here in the UK and it has been creeping up most often now even all over the world. It affects men over 50 mainly and anyone assigned male at birth can get this prostrate cancer. Reports have shown also that generally, 1 in 8 men will get prostrate cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 4 black men also will get prostrate cancer also. If you ever have history of such in your family, it's advisable to detect it early by going for regular doctor's appointments and not wait until you are 50 because those who have history of it in their families can catch it early too.

As discussed in the first part of this post also, we are used to saying "Big Boys Don't Cry" or "Boys Don't Cry". We have instilled that thought that men can't show emotions and need to be strong every time. Men grew up with the mentality that not needing help or expressing certain emotions makes us weak, and that shouldn't be.

Have you ever seen situation where another man sees another man crying and cringe? We always make it sound like crying makes people look weak. It's okay to seek for help. We need to understand our limits too and ask for help. We are humans after all with flesh, blood and emotions.

"Nature's Remedy: How Spending Time Outdoors Can Restore Your Mind, Body, and Soul"
In today's modern and fast-paced world, many of us have become disconnected from the natural world around us. However, research has shown that spending time in nature can have profound effects on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. From reducing stress and anxiety to promoting creativity and inner peace, the healing power of nature is undeniable.

One of the key benefits of spending time in nature is its ability to reduce stress and promote relaxation. The sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world can have a calming effect on our nervous system, helping to lower cortisol levels and induce feelings of calmness and tranquility.

Furthermore, nature has been found to boost mood and improve mental health. Studies have shown that spending time outdoors can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, increase feelings of happiness and well-being, and enhance overall mental clarity and cognitive function.

In addition to its mental and emotional benefits, nature also has numerous physical health benefits. Being outdoors exposes us to natural sunlight, which is a rich source of vitamin D and essential for bone health and immune function. Furthermore, outdoor activities such as hiking, gardening, and swimming provide opportunities for physical exercise, promoting cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of chronic diseases.

Moreover, spending time in nature encourages mindfulness and presence in the moment. When we immerse ourselves in the natural world, we become more attuned to our surroundings and more aware of the present moment. This can help us cultivate a deeper sense of connection with ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Incorporating more time in nature into our daily lives can have profound effects on our overall well-being. Whether it's taking a leisurely walk in the park, going for a hike in the mountains, or simply spending time in our own backyard, reconnecting with the natural world can restore our mind, body, and soul.
