When this series was initially released back in 2008 and when it was first on, it was basically the hottest thing on TV. It seemed as though everyone and their mom loved it. When I was visiting a friend recently she told me that she had never seen it so obviously we popped it on. Let's just say that I don't think this show has aged well, and its rather silly take on vampirism that was fun at the time just kind of seems dumb to me today. <center>  [src](https://southerngothicbible.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/True-blood.png)</center> My friend fell asleep while watching it and we were only about 2 episodes in. She laughed a lot when certain things were happening such as when the main vampire character "Bill" is quite easily subdued in the parking lot of a restaurant by two non vampires. This is a rather silly instance because of the fact that it is already shown that the vampires contain superhuman strength and speed, so when tiny naive waitress "Sookie" comes and rescues him to establish their love interest, it just kind of starts off on a bad foot. I can understand why people enjoyed the show though. It is a pretty novel concept to have the world arguing that vampires should be allowed to co-exist with humans now that a synthetic blood substitute called "True Blood" has been invented. The introduction of some vampires that are happy to exist like this and that there are some who refuse to stop being hunters is, to me, an easy way for them to continually create conflict situations for basically an unlimited number of episodes. <center>  [src](https://variety.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/True-Blood-HBO.jpg?w=1000)</center> Also, since this was an HBO presentation, there was plenty of sex and nudity in the episodes, and that keeps a lot of folks happy out there as well despite the fact that everyone has access to pron on the internet at all times, even back in 2008. My friend later admitted that she did in fact like it, but was just really tired and that is why she fell asleep. I will admit that watching it for the 2nd time that they do in fact put a ton of rather useless dialogue into the episodes which is understandable because it can't be all action all the time especially when there are around 80 episodes. Knowing what I know about the series probably makes my opinion of it all a bit more enlightened though and this is possibly why I have a bit of disdain for the series more so than someone who is watching it for the first time might. I know, for example, that more and more creatures of lore are exposed in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana including witches, werewolves, and even fairies. They get a bit ridiculous with things as it appears later on that they don't really have any more ways of having the vampires fight with humans, or even with one another. One tidbit of information about this show that you might not know about is that one of the main characters Lafayette who was played by Nelsan Ellis, had a rather sad story in his own life. <center>  [src](https://andscape.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lafayette-reynolds-1920.jpg)</center> He plays a good-natured and helpful character who is known and liked by everyone. He is also extremely gay. Nelson, who is not gay in real life, nailed the role but apparently really struggled with it because he struggled playing the part but was doing so well at it. As is common in famous actors, he coped with this by having a rather extreme drug and alcohol addiction, with some rumors stating that he "needed to be hammered" to pull of the gay scenes that he is in. Nelson didn't tell anyone that he was very aware of the fact that he had a very serious addiction issue and in films and TV I don't think anyone is going to stop you from doing that sort of thing if you are doing your job well, which he was. He won multiple awards for his role as Lafayette so the ball just kept rolling so to speak. When Nelson went cold turkey on his own 3 years after *True Blood* was taken off the air, he went through extreme withdrawal and didn't seek professional help for it and just went through it on his own. I have never heard of this happening to anyone but he actually ended up dying because of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, which was something I didn't know was a real thing, let alone something you could die from. He was a mere 39 years of age when he passed at a Brooklyn medical center. <hr> Back to the show though: True Blood will appeal to a lot of people out there but even though it is less than 20 years old it seems a bit dated because we have moved on from making things comical in the world of vampires in my opinion. There are talks about there being a reboot of this series and I am on the fence about whether or not I think this is actually a good idea. I do like the opening credits song and sequence though, and it changes from season to season a little bit. I thought this song was by Chris Isaak but as it turns out it is by Jace Everett, a man who basically tries really hard to be Chris Isaak and has experience some level of success by this mimicry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqPUMpRMrfU <h3> Should I watch it? </h3> Chances are, you already have. If you haven't and are in your 20's I think there is a good chance you will find it entertaining. However, just like a lot of series, they didn't even have a story for the entirety of the series when they were producing it because I don't think any producers out there know from the start that their show is going to be popular enough to warrant 7 seasons. This becomes more and more evident as the seasons drag on. All I know is that I really loved it when it first came out so my bit of disdain for it now could very well be based on the fact that I already know how the series spirals into ridiculosity later. Have a go. If you like the first 3 episodes there is a good chance you will be hooked for a season or two. <center>  <sub> the only legal way that I am aware of to watch this series is currently by subscribing to the HBO streaming service </sub> </center>

Chapter 1: The Birth of Vampire Rule Once upon a time, there was a world where vampires and humans lived together peacefully. But then, something unforeseen happened: a group of powerful vampires decided to take control of the world and subjugate humans. Humans were powerless against the superior strength of the vampires, which spread rapidly. Within a short period, the vampires had taken control of most of the world's major cities and countries. Chapter 2: The Rise of the Vampire Princes The most powerful vampires in the world were appointed as vampire princes and ruled over their respective territories. They had unimaginable power and were feared and respected by their subjects. The vampire princes also had their own rules and laws that humans had to abide by. Those who did not follow the rules were punished severely. Chapter 3: The Rebellion of Humans Not all humans were willing to submit to the vampire princes. A group of rebels, led by a brave warrior named Adrian, began to fight against the vampire rule. Adrian and his rebels had some successes against the vampires, but they were ultimately overpowered by the superior forces of the vampires. Chapter 4: The Secrets of Vampires Meanwhile, some curious humans began to take an interest in the secrets of the vampires. They discovered that vampires were actually immortal and that they obtained their power from a secret ritual called the "Blood Rite." Some of the curious humans began to become vampires themselves to gain power. They joined the vampire princes and fought against the rebels. Chapter 5: The Escape of the Rebels Adrian and his rebels eventually realized that they could not win the fight against the superior forces of the vampires. They decided to flee and find a new home where they could live free from vampire rule. The rebels set out on a journey into an uncertain future, being chased and hunted by the vampires. Chapter 6: The Discovery of a New Land After many months of travel, the rebels finally reached a new land that was uninhabited. It was a land full of resources and opportunities, but also full of dangers. The rebels began to settle in this new land and build a new society. They were finally free from the rule of the vampires and hoped that they would never be found. Chapter 7: The Return of the Vampires But the vampires did not give up. They had spies in the rebel colony and eventually began to track them down. The rebels were prepared to fight for their freedom and began to prepare for the vampire attack. Adrian and his comrades knew that they could only win the fight against the powerful vampires if they united and combined their strengths. They began to sharpen their weapons and strengthen their defense walls. However, the vampires were always one step ahead and had already made their own plans. Chapter 8: The Final Battle Finally, the last battle broke out between the rebels and the vampires. It was a brutal and bloody fight that was a matter of life and death. Adrian and his rebels fought with everything they had against the superior power of the vampires. They fought for their freedom, for their families, and for a better future. After hours of fighting, it was finally Adrian who delivered the decisive blow against the most powerful vampire lord. The vampire lord fell to the ground and the other vampires realized that their victory was hopeless. The vampires retreated and the rebels had finally gained their freedom. They celebrated their victory and looked hopefully towards a future that was now full of possibilities. But Adrian knew that they should never feel too safe. The vampires would surely return one day to try to take control again. But for now, they were safe and that was all that mattered.

 A vampire is a mythical creature that feeds on the vital essence of living people (usually in the form of blood). Vampires are undead creatures who visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighborhoods where they lived when living, according to European legend. They wore shrouds and were described as bloated, reddish, or dark-skinned, in stark contrast to today's gaunt, pale vampire, who dates from the early 1800s. Vampiric beings have been documented in most civilizations; the name vampire became common in Western Europe after stories of a mass frenzy in the Balkans and Eastern Europe in the 18th century.
Every now and then I will re-visit a game that just had everything that I like in a game. You level up in some capacity, the game has a great story and soundtrack, it is a bit dark, and it also has an almost "Zelda" type way about it. The fact that the story evolves around being a vampire that has to decide if they are going to be a good vampire or a bad one as the game progresses, is just an added bonus. So why did this game fail to make any sort of mark on the industry? So much in fact, that during certain battles where there were too many enemies on the screen that gameplay would actually slow down quite a lot. This was one of my only gripes with the game but it was something that I was more than willing to deal with in order to have a game of this magnitude. In the end the game only sold around 300,000 copies and this was not a good figure at all. The producers of the game claim that they had eventually sold over 2 million, but there is some chatter that this was simply a PR move to retain interest in the development teams because they offered up no proof that this was actually the case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_uLGt6lc1A I don't have any idea why more people didn't buy this game but I am also happy that despite poor sales they realized they had a good idea here and eventually this lead to another one of my favorite games, *Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver* a few years later. I played this game again recently and although it is dated, it is still fantastic fun. You must decide whether or not you want to share your life with others. You must decide what your priorities are. There is light on the other side of the tunnel during storms. Mot all is lost in the mist of pain, trials, temptations, difficulties, sickness, death, famine, drought, the many forks in the road of life. I can talk all day about everything, long story, and I really want to explain everything right now. But to be frank, I feel like I don't have time to say it all right now. I'm trying to summarize and mention just a few of the things on my mind. The biggest thing is in regards to being aware. That relates to many things. Be aware like an actor is. Practice being aware. That helps you make better choices in life. Be aware in many ways and all the time. To use an analogy, it is like being aware during a dream. Find substitutions for habits, lifestyles, choices, decisions. Pray not for lust but for passion and drive. Be aware and be ready. Rest and be patient in how you live. Be mindful. Be aware of what you do. Analyze your desires, passions, goals, dreams. Transparency is crucial. Accountability, honesty, integrity, is everything for sure. It can require people. It totally requires prayer and dedication. It stems so much from trust, from faith, from a longing heart to not let go so to speak at certain times. Pray for the fire. Stop lying. Be aware of the lies. Stop lying to yourself regarding what you think you have to and in regards to what you think or feel you can't. Even if you end up on the wrong path, don't make up excuses. Write it down in your journal. Pray about it. Tell your accountability partner. Write down things you will do and then do them. Start out small and commit to whatever is on your list. If they're too hard, then you could make them smaller for the next week. Make it a weekly thing. After a month of doing it, add to your list, make it harder. But not too much all at once. Tell yourself you can do it. Write it down. Tell people. Pray for wisdom, strength, patience, love, dedication. Continue the monthly cycles each month. Never stop that. Never let go.
