I know how hardy roses can be - some planted by the city of Vienna I had seen survived through the winter (but usually they prune them back). Myself back in Canada, I had not much luck with roses. My backyard was a "jungle" where deer used to come to sleep for the night, maybe they ate all my roses, lol.
