Hi @gyldenhorn. I agree that this is one of the most interesting things about algae. I don't think we have found any environment where they can't survive. Some algae such as cyanobacteria don't even need oxygen in order to survive, so it might very well be that we find them on another planet, a moon, or on an asteroid. If we do find life out in space, I think there is a good chance that it will be an algae, or something that resembles it.
