It's baffling to me, it really is. I'm one of those people, a dreamer I guess, who believes in helping others on the way up. Sure, you can't help others until you are in a position to help yourself - but this platform is designed in a way that whales can benefit immensely, while giving a few crumbs to the minnows.

It costs nothing to use a couple big upvotes to boost a minnow a teeny, tiny bit closer to the surface.  Why do so many have the mentality that anyone else's wallet growing a bit while theirs grows exponentially somehow threatens them?

Maybe I'm just a silly hippy. 

 I totally agree that upvoting your own posts is just fine - no matter what level you are. You take time to create content, and deserve a reward. Now, I think, if I was a whale, I'd probably set my upvotes for posts at 50% or something. But that's me. 

I'm one of those not a fan of rules and regulations people though - because I believe in the power of the people to punish those who abuse their power. I hope that happens here - actually, no, that's the negative view. Maybe the abusers will learn from posts like these that it's in their best interest to share with the community, and earn rewards. Then everyone wins.
