Over time I have seen some of my ideas implemented. Whether directly or through community grapevine doesn't really matter to me as long as solutions to problems are continually found. We as the community of users find the problems. I think the communication is better but people still tend to be short sighted in some areas. Hopefully the SMT hardfork is better than 20.
