The websites are not blocked; they just don't allow one to transfer into Canadian banks. We do have a couple Canadian exchanges; it is not dire:)

Have you heard of bitpay? Works like a debit card for cryptos.
I haven't use it myself so can't vouch for it's utility but there are several alternatives...with fees.

Keep on stacking while it's cheap.
I trade on Gdax for btc etc and on bittrex to increase my steem token holdings. 
Steem has a big future when the rest of the world works out what it can do.
