the idea itself pleases me is an advance in medical engineering to simulate the heartbeat with a holster, but it would be better to implement the idea for an artificial heart since to open.
  The thoracic box just to make the heart beat in a surgery seems to me to be something more risky and unnecessary.

We enter in the phase to enhance and combine technology in our body. I believe soon we will able to mostly fix every problem with technologies of this kind. Enhance human longevity and bring happiness of the people who face those challenges.

All i can write is Wow!!!
Very good innovation. Me personaly i already saved a human life few times in my life and it felt good. 
But the scientists who make this can save a life of many millions i think. 
And to be honest so good to read about these kind of products because we can never know when we will be the one who will need this in the future.

To be frank it feels strange to see the heart beating in real. A non invasive method to keep heart beating during open heart surgery:) 

I am not a medical professional but i bet its a revolutionary tech... May be some doctor hunter can shed some light upon it. 

This product is a little scary.

Hear disease are common in our world and many die due to unavailability of the proper treatment and timely surgery. Although surgery is a difficult task and open heart surgery is much more difficult. But this soft robotic sleeves is trying to make open-heart surgery little easy. Medical engineering is really a life-saving subject.

It’s a very good invention and unlike any other treatment that directly pumps the blood. The fact that it pumps the heart instead of pumping the blood directly makes it a much safer option in my opinion. Great hunting man!

We all know that heart is one of the most delicate organs in human body. While we hear or even witness many successful heart surgeries, there is always the risk of attack or failure during the operation specially if there is a need for implant. 

While I am hesitant for anything left inside the body as that will alter the natural function of any organ, I trust science and technology for life betterment. With this robotic sleeve, it sounds promising to reduce heart failures. It advances medical technology and engineering to save more lives.

if its a sleeve, then perhaps there are other innovative things like, assisting the heart to beat in cases of cardiac arrest, perhaps even a cheaper solution for those who find themselves bound to a lifetime heart related medication. Great hunt!

After long time no see your hunt, you jump to the top 1 and it's really "scary" product - but we need it so much - especially for hear surgical.

Even it's Industrial product, but this will help peoples. Btw,,, i never see that our heart shape is like that :ghost: it's scary for me.

I'm late to the comment column on this post, but as a family physician I felt compelled to put in my thoughts.  This is indeed a very interesting experimental device.  Although the surgery to implant the device will almost certainly be an open thoracotomy, requiring a cardiothoracic surgeon to open the chest as with other open heart surgeries, the potential advantage of a durable device that can improve ventricular pumping function without implanting a pump inside the vasculature and requiring blood thinners and risking stroke is a major step forward.  
The animal studies that are sure to follow should help determine how much irritation these devices cause on the outside of the heart, how durable the devices are and whether there unexpected complications with time of use.  
I don't want to sound like a skeptic, but this device is far from ready for prime time, and has huge challenges to meet before being ready for use at scale in humans.  
Still a cool hunt, allowing us to dream big.

Well. I'm actually speechless as to the creation of this lil' gadget.  I can't believe how far we've come.  Pretty insane and well needed by those doing open heart surgery.  I couldn't imagine having to go through something like that to begin with and any added comfort or ease of mind is welcomed I'm sure.
