People get information or feel secure while hanging out with other people and talking. So in the early days of the Internet, it was popular to talk to people in chat rooms. These days, people communicate with people through SNS or instant messaging. 
However, they are mostly communicated via simple text, images, and sometimes video sharing. If we talk to people using VR technology, we can look at each other and talk to each other in the same space, so we will be more engaged in conversation. 
I personally want these technologies to be developed dramatically and used for telecommuting, such as meeting without going to the company and working with computers inside VR. I think people waste too much time on the bus or the subway when they commute. Therefore, it is expected that this problem will be solved through VR technology in the near future.
