You bring up some good points, particularly regarding not triggering bots by avoiding self-voting. If other account that trigger abstain from voting on their own posts/comments then the bots will be naturally redirected to supporting others' content, as intended. I've got a new account so I'm still stroking my own so to speak but I intend to proceed along this path fairly and dedicate my votes to others once I have enough SP (no intention of powering down at any point in the foreseeable future) and followers. Reseteemed as my vote towards your post counts for nothing but a penny.
