My problem with Steemit is that it seems that after a week or so, older quality posts that may have slipped through the cracks cant be promoted well if we do find them. Maybe Im missing something and am wrong, please enlighten me if I am.

Correct, Steemit posts payout after 7 days so promotion is pointless after that time. They should still appear on your timeline though.

Thats a shame because if folks find a good post, theres not a lot of reason to promote it and the author loses out.

Couldn't the post get comments which are then paid out after 7 days? Or are any new comments on old cashed out posts non earning?
